Warm-up #6 1) How did people join the bureaucracy (group of unelected government officials) in Song dynasty? 2) Why might this system have helped bring stability to the Song government?

Finish Confucianism, Neo-Confucianism, scholar-officials handout. Finish your activity from yesterday. Move one seat back then to the seat in front and to your right. IE seats 15 and 16 go to seat 17 and 18. Correct our answers…

Around the Room Complete the sentences. Record the word that completes the sentence and write where you found it. Only one person can leave the desks. The questions must stay with the group. Leave answers where they are. 

Around the Room The Song dynasty improved the system of working for the government when hiring many people to from a bureaucracy. Through civil service government officials helped improve the Song dynasty. People who worked in civil service had to pass an exam before becoming scholar officials This insured that candidates has strong incentive to do well. To become a high-ranking scholar-official someone would have to pass a series of civil service exams.
