Divisional Goal (Corporate Objective 4) To generate and disseminate scientific knowledge and technology as well as provide technical, analytical, training and consultancy services in the area of food processing and engineering to meet the demands of stakeholders as shall be determined by the CID and R&D Management Team
Objective 1 OBJECTIVE 1: Develop and implement a system for identifying and resolving at least 1 researchable industrial constraint each year. Research and Development- Projects Rice Sector Support Project (RSSP): Contact person; Mr. Ali Sampare Training was organised for rice farmers and processors in four Districts in the Upper East region. Cassava G-Market Project: Contact person; Mr. Elvis Baidoo New product development with HQCF and studies into the functional properties of cassava flour Africa Rice Project Contact person; Mr. Elvis Baidoo Conducted survey of processors, millers and farmers. Cassava: Adding Value for Africa: Contact person; Mr. Gregory Komlaga Monitoring visits to end users of HQCF conducted in the Volta and Greater Accra regions. WFP-Community Based Cereal Milling and Fortification Programme: Mr. Ali Sampare Technology transfer to more than 10 communities in the Northern region of Ghana on rice parboiling
Research and Development - Project Gratitude Project : Contact person; Dr. Charles Tortoe Value chain analysis on cassava and yam completed, key yam varieties identified and the use of cassava and yam waste in mushroom cultivation are under investigation. WAAPP 2A: Contact person; Dr. Charles Tortoe Annual work plan and budget request submitted to WAAPP Office and Funds released for commencement of work. Objective 3 OBJECTIVE 3: Develop, implement and coordinate a system for attracting at least 1 donor-funded research project each year. ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITY OUTPUTS Search for calls for proposals through internet and professional network and report at DMT meeting and also share with Research Scientist. Challenges Difficult access to cassava for production at RTPDU
Way Forward Renovation works at PSPU completed. Certification of products in progress and commercial processing of research by-products to start in full swing by middle of August, 2013. Renovation works at RTPDU is yet to start
