These buildings are inspected to ensure that the installed fire equipment is kept in good working order. The fire equipment is examined , tested and that which is found damaged is required to be repaired. The fire prevention officers are required to visit once a year each premises for the sake of inspection of the buildings. On these inspections the officers also check on the means of escape, housekeeping, fire hazards and obstruction of fire equipment. City of Harare Fire Brigade Training
BUILDING FIRE CERTIFICATION NEW BUILDINGS Before a new building is constructed plans should be submitted to the local authority. As the plans circulate through relevant Departments it also passes through the fire brigade and recommendations on fire equipment to be installed are done. Before a completed building is occupied, it should be installed with adequate fire equipment as indicated by the Fire Authority.
