What is a digital foot print? A digital footprint: it’s the collection of everything we post online—and everything that others post about us—that becomes a permanent, distinct image that others can see.

[Project PRO] What did we learn from that? Anyone have thoughts? When information about us is permanent, that’s a great thing if it’s positive. But not so great when it’s negative. You can’t erase after you hit send. Even if an image has been deleted, if it’s online it can be copied, searched and sent
Tips for what you should post online Always ask someone if you can post a photo of them or share something about them. Be careful about sharing information that can identify you to people you don’t know ie: Home address Phone number Lots of photos. On the other hand, the stuff you post can help you build a positive image that might help you get into college or job you really want. And you can inspire others. So when you’re thinking of your own reputation, think of others’ as well. Always ask someone if you can post a photo of them or share something about them. You won’t know how they feel about it unless you ask. When in doubt, leave it out. And be careful about sharing information that can identify you to people you don’t know, like your home address, phone number and a lot of photos. Can anyone guess why? [Answers might include identity theft, someone you don’t know learning about where you live and your habits, etc.] So, when we can, let’s focus on building a positive record that will help you in the future.
