What are CEPNs? The local community of educational providers and relevant organisations working together to achieve a streamlined approach to planning and delivering education for health and social care workers to meet local and national priorities.

In the beginning PRIMARY CARE WORKFORCE CRISIS 2015 NHS England £10M to support the GP 10 Point Plan 2016 GP Forward View £3.5m support TH (Pilot sites in London/Yorks and Humber Advanced TP) HEE in the south west c£1.6m National monthly meetings/task and finish groups STPs HEE appoints HPCCE @NHS_HealthEdEng #insertcampaignhashtag

CEPNs: National Principles Workforce planning & development to respond to local needs and enable service redesign Improving educational capacity and capability through the development of multi-professional educators and creation of an increase in learner placements Improving educational quality and governance and acting as a coordinator of education and training to support general practice

HEE/AHSN/CEPN collaboration HEE commission AHSNs (WoE & SW) to project manage CEPN initiative AHSN offer of: partnership, collaboration, quality improvement, innovation HEE offer of: established GP training programmes, leadership, expertise, senior GP Trainees (LEETs) Successfully secured initial goals.

www.modelsofcare.co.uk An online sharing platform which portal provides users with easy access to case studies on: what is working, what has been tried and what hasn’t worked within primary care and across the health and care system. The portal is free to use and supports shared learning within the context of the whole system – Vanguards, Pioneers, Primary Care Home. The portal also features: A private forum for registered users. Access to resources and funding opportunities. A shared project space where users can register a project and invite others to collaborate. A private notice board, particularly useful for the emerging Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) in their work across the whole system.

CEPNs – the future Context: STPs; GP workforce crisis; population changes; multi morbidity at scale; increased care needs; patient expectations; financial pressures New models of care-> different ways of working HEE: savings imperative More for less Can future funding the CEPNs offer a solution? Joint funding of workforce training?

CEPN: the next phase HEE offer: Educational Facilitators linking GP training programmes to the CEPN Strengthen the relationship between HEE & CEPNs Support CEPN activities through: KPIs (national and local); Operational framework; Quality activities Further draw on AHSN offer Promote collaboration/best practice across CEPNs
