Annual Parent Meeting Ware County High School Welcome We are so pleased to have you with us this evening. We are going to be talking about Title I and what that means for Ware County High School, our students and our parents. September 26, 2016 12:00 Noon & 6:30 pm Mr. Bert Smith, Principal

What is Title I? Title I began in 1965 (ESEA) as a federal program to ensure equal opportunities for low income school districts. Through Title I, the federal government disburses money to school districts based on the number of low-income families in each district as determined by census data. The school uses its Title I money to supplement and improve educational programs offered to help ALL students meet state standards. Title I -- Federal program begun in 1965 as part of the Elementary Secondary Education Act. You will see it referred to again as Elementary Secondary Education Act.

The Purpose of Title I… ….is to ensure that ALL students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments. The purpose of Title I under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. Title I provides funds to schools who have a significant number of low income students in a school. Title I funds can only be used to improve academic achievement.

Title I programs can help. . . Students do better in school and feel better about themselves Teachers understand the needs and concerns of students and parents Parents understand their child and be more involved in their child’s education Ware County High School is “School-Wide” Title I school

As Title I School-Wide , we… Develop a School-Wide Plan Conduct a needs assessment/parent survey on the types of programs we offer and use parent input to guide our decision making on ways to help students We hold Parent workshops / presentations to train and inform parents about standards, assessments, etc… Use Title I Money to provide ALL students with services to help them achieve academic success We establish goals based on multiple pieces of data and determine how are we going to meet our goals through programs & interventions

School-wide Plan (SWP) School Improvement Plan (SIP) 2016-2017 Template change represents convergence of both former documents: The schoolwide/school improvement plan serves as a blueprint for how WCHS will design an instructional program that supports challenging learning environments that meet the needs of all students.

10 Components of the SWP Comprehensive Needs Assessment The SWP is developed by a group of stakeholders (administrators, teachers, parents and students ) who look at various forms of data to determine goals and needs as a school. The SWP outlines 10 Components that we, at WCHS, must address in our plan. Comprehensive Needs Assessment School Wide Reform Strategies Highly Qualified Staff Professional Development Increasing Parental Involvement School Transition Teacher Involvement w/ Assessments Activities for “at-risk” students and “at-promise” students Coordination and Integration of funds/services/programs Transition from CRCT to EOC/Georgia Milestones

Title I Funds

How we receive Title I funds? All schools in Ware County participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) This programs allows us to provide “no-cost” breakfast and lunch to all students It eliminates the burden of collecting household applications to determine eligibility for school meal programs Everyone benefits Students—access to free nutritious meals for all students Parents—no household applications means less paperwork and no worries about lunch accounts Schools—streamlines meal service operation

C.C.R.P.I College Career Ready Performance Index ** New “Scorecard” Replaced AYP ** Includes 19 Indicators (areas of score)

College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Georgia uses the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for state accountability purposes. The CCRPI is like a REPORT CARD for schools. CCRPI has multiple indicators to determine a school’s performance, rather than using a single test score given at one point in time.

CCRPI Data

This report card measures the growth and achievement of each school in the following areas: Achievement Progress Achievement Gap ED/EL/ SWD performance Exceeding the Bar School Climate

Achievement: Content mastery (subject with an EOC) Graduation Rate Points are given for: Content mastery (subject with an EOC) Graduation Rate Post High School Readiness CTAE/Pathway Mastery ACT/SAT scores HOPE Qualified Students /ACCEL/DUAL Enrollment Students Lexile Measures Attendance

Progress Achievement Gap Points are awarded for EOC courses that show areas of student growth. Achievement Gap Points are awarded for “closing the gap” from one year’s achievement to the next. The goal of measuring achievement gap reduction is to focus on increasing the achievement of the schools’ lowest achieving students (25%)

ED / EL / SWD Performance Points are given based on the progress and achievement on EOC assessments for our Economically Disadvantaged (ED) English Learners (EL) Student with Disabilities (SWD)

Exceeding the Bar Supplemental Factors that are considered: % graduates earning credit in Physics course % 9th Graders earning 4 credits in content areas and those with disabilities, earning 3 credits. School earning STEM Certification % English Learners with growth % graduates completing a career-related Work Based program % teachers utilizing SLDS (data system) School utilizing innovative practices and programs School facilitates a Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)

School Climate School climate is rated by various data which include: Teacher/Staff/Administrator/Parent/Student surveys School Discipline records Safe and Substance Free Learning data Attendance 2014-15 Ware County High School received three star rating :
