How to Increase Chapter Members Promotion Create flyers promoting DECA and all it offers Talk about DECA and upcoming meetings on school announcements and news Create DECA calendar listing all upcoming activities and events Have your chapter officers wear DECA shirts to get people interested Post about DECA on Social Media On your chapter social media Chapter Officers’ own social media Free T-Shirts and Pins Include “free” t-shirts by increasing your membership fee to join your chapter slightly and handing out shirts

How to Increase Chapter Members Introductory Meetings Hold introductory meetings with free food and music with chapter officers sharing their DECA experiences and answering questions that potential members may have Show videos of different conferences Explain the competitive events program along with DECA Idea Challenge and Virtual Business Challenges Discuss scholarship opportunities Bring up field trips, socials, and community service activities Discuss new skills you learn and how you can develop them further at DECA’s leadership conferences Create flyers informing members of these meetings so new members or potential members are informed of these opportunities

How to Increase Alumni Members Host a DECA Alumni Event Put up flyers about it in the community inviting DECA alumni to come to your school for refreshments and the chance to network with one another and students Discuss benefits of becoming DECA Alumni Alumni members receive a pin and card, one-year subscription to DECA Direct (if a current address is provided) and the value of supporting an organization that has impacted them and additional emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.

How to Increase Professional Members Get your parents to join and become professional members! Reach out to other family and friends Get your official DECA sponsors to join as professional members and put their logos on the back of your chapter shirts Have a panel of business professionals that sign up to become professional members come in and discuss their jobs Provide these professionals with refreshments and a chance to advertise their business
