Current Strategies to Address Need Do not fill instructional coach positions after the start of the school year Hold Substitute Teacher Recruitment Event in July Advertise for substitute teachers in local newspapers Recruit for teachers from substitute pool Assist substitutes with credentialing process Allow teachers who wish to resign to leave, keeping the door open for a future return High School Academies for future teachers
Additional Strategies to Consider Does not imply staff recommendation Some items may require agreement with employee group Some items may require LCAP adjustment Do not release teachers under contract (report to CTC) Visit undergraduate level classes Hire credentialed teachers regardless of work history Adjust staffing ratios Offer incentive(s) to come to LUSD Offer incentive(s) to stay with LUSD Offer incentive to declare retirement early in the year Eliminate non-classroom teacher positions Do not fill vacant administrative positions with current LUSD teachers after the start of the school year Centralize hiring process Centralize hiring process only during the summer break Research/advocate for options regarding 30 day substitute issue
