Seinfeld Career Choices Survey Question Junior Year: College & Career Planning Seinfeld Career Choices Survey Question

This time next year… College applications for the 2018-2019 school will open in the Summer of 2017. We encourage seniors to aim to complete all of their college applications (3-7 on average) by Halloween of their senior year. Meet or beat almost every deadline out there (Nov.1is the first big deadline nationwide) Complete the stressful application process so you can focus on your important senior year So that means you will be applying to college based on your transcripts from JUNIOR YEAR

What do you need to do this year? Prepare for and take your college admission test(s). Conduct your college search and develop a list of where you would like to apply. Start planning ahead for your applications.

ACT/SAT Many juniors will begin testing in Dec. Ideally, testing will be completed this year or by October of senior year. Register online: ACT: www.actstudent.org SAT: www.collegeboard.org Consider sending scores to colleges. (4 free now or pay $12 per test date later) Upload a photo

ACT/SAT Have an idea what ACT score means for your future, set goals, seek help as needed, take multiple times ACT & SAT are accepted by all 4-year colleges & universities in the US SAT subject tests are required by some (but not most) colleges Some colleges require the writing portion of the ACT All Juniors will take the ACT on April 19th at FHN The test is paid for by the state and you will register for it during the school day The writing section will be included

The College Search-choosing a school that is right for you 1) Identify the criteria that is important to you Location, size, majors, diversity, cost, activities, etc. 2) Identify & research schools that fit your criteria Online college search: Career cruising, https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org Meet with reps. at FHN College fairs, college events in the area, visit campus 3) Decide where to apply On average, students apply to 3-7 school Too many applications = more stress

Military There are many paths to take if you are considering the military, make sure you take a look at all of them before deciding on your future (career, pay off college, etc.) We have military recruiters at lunch, there are military recruitment offices nearby, you can check todaysmilitary.com
