Babies are baptised to show they are part of the Church family Babies are baptised to show they are part of the Church family. The sign of the cross is made on the baby’s forehead because Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. Water is poured on the baby’s head as a sign that sin has been washed away. The parents promise to bring the child up to know and love Jesus. Adults can also be baptised, they can be lowered right under the water instead of having it poured on their heads. The adults decide for themselves that they will love, and follow Jesus.
