Light$mart, energy efficiency programs and solar for Darebin Businesses Emma Hopkins Date 12/5/2017

Why does Council target business? Darebin’s Climate Change Action Plan 2007 Target, zero emissions by 2030 Business contributes just nearly 50% of total Darebin emissions

Light$mart 2010 – 2017 Why target lights? RESULTS 140 businesses have retrofitted their lights through this program Light$mart now works with 3 LED installers, Cherry LED, Shine On and EcoBright Over 12,000 lights have been changed (our Darebin street light program changed ~ 10,000 lights) Over 2,560 tonnes of carbon saved per year, or 690+ cars off the road

Average Light$mart results per business $2,777 saved on electricity bills per year 14,258 kw saved per year $3,997 cost to business Average payback around 1 year

SLIM – Sustainable Leaders in Manufacturing GreenLight Program – 10 businesses over 3 programs 27 SLIM businesses LED, solar, other support and results Energy and Materials Diagnostics, Energy Assessments

SLIM – Building Leadership – Hosting Green Business Networking Events Case studying and profiling (Business Connection, Sustainability News, facebook posts) Speaking at key events – Sustainability Matters Sharing with and influencing their peers

Solar Business Bulk Buy 10 business installations done, 9 businesses participating 224 kw of solar installed Post installation visits and follow up Make the most of the installation, promote it, get businesses to share their experience with other businesses
