Digital Light Sources First introduced in 2001. Used as Calibration/Reference Light sources and for testing CCD, CMOS, and other image sensors, cameras and detectors. High-resolution digital brightness control provides near perfect linearity and uniformity Spectral and color selections from the UV region to the near infrared, including broadband whites Nearly zero downtime – runs continuously for thousands of hours Computer controllable with simple commands that easily integrate into test systems

Digital Light Source - Products RS-5A: Single Color Linear Programmable Digital Light Source. Has larger aperture and higher power compared to RS-5. RS-5B: Spectrally Programmable Digital Light Source RS-5H: Spectrally Programmable Hi Power Digital Light Source SynthicolorTM Spectral Programming software for the RS-5B and RS-5H. Note: For uniform output, all light sources should be coupled with a Baffle Illumination tube or an Integrating sphere. RS-5 RS-5B 3

SynthiColor™ Spectral Design & Analysis Software EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source for CMOS and Sensor Testing The RS-5H is designed to project a uniform illumination at a distance of 5 to 10 cm from the end of the Baffle tube. Up to 8 channels of LEDs cover the visible range of light. A total of 208 LEDs are used in each RS-5H. Channels can be combined to produce unlimited spectrums, CCT and power levels. The RS-5H can be programmed to set exactly the color, intensity or spectral profile required for almost any measurement. SynthiColor™ Spectral Design & Analysis Software

Typical RS-5H Integrated with a Tester EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source for CMOS and Sensor Testing Computer controllable with simple commands that can easily integrate into existing testers or new test systems. Available Synthicolor Software allows the user to produce unlimited custom types of spectrums and Illuminants. Adjustable light-level setting to 1 part in 65,535 in absolute, NIST-traceable, radiometric and photometric units. Near-perfect linearity and uniformity. Typical RS-5H Integrated with a Tester

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source for CMOS and Sensor Testing Designed to illuminate test areas up to 100mm. Custom illumination areas and configurations available. 20x longer light-source lifetime compared to tungsten sources. In addition to long operating lifetime of LEDS. LEDs are operated at less than 50% of rated power levels to further increase reliability. This provides additional Redundancy. Designed for continuous operation with real-time fault/failure monitoring. Supported by a fully equipped and NIST traceable Calibration and Test lab. Typical RS-5H Installation

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source APPLICATIONS Photometric, radiometric and colorimetric calibration and testing of sensors and imaging systems. Design of illumination sources. CCD, CMOS and other sensor performance measurements: charge capacity, electronic gain, responsivity, saturation, noise equivalent power, quantum efficiency, non-linearity, equivalent ASA speed, Gamma curves.

Synthicolor Software for RS-5B and RS-5H In addition to preprogrammed commands for the RS-5B and RS-5H, the Digital Lightsources can also be user controlled using Synthicolor software to produce custom spectrums, color temperatures and illuminance levels.

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Design and Performance Specifications Designed with a real time feedback loop that continuously monitors the output of each channel of LEDs using photodetectors. An additional Master detector monitors total output of the RS-5H. Optional temperature stabilization is available for the Master detector. There are up to 26 LEDs for each channel. Any decay or failure of LEDs can be compensated by automatically adjusting power to the remaining LEDs. System is designed with real time fault monitoring with alarms for failures and deviations from normal. CCT Range: 500k to 10000k. Can be programmable in user defined steps.

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Design and Performance Specifications Output non-Uniformity: +/- 1.5% at 75 mm diameter area +/- 3% at 100 mm diameter area Output Power: <1500 lux for broadband power. Maximum power < 4000 lux. Output Spectral Range: 420 nm to 940 nm. System settling time when switching to different spectrum/CCTs: 50 ms with complete change of output spectrum and power level. System stability: +/- 0.5% at temperature range of 18 to 26 deg C. Illumination distance: 5 to 10 cm from the end of projection tube,

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Design and Performance Specifications Programmable using USB, RS232 or IEEE 488 interface. The RS-5H is desgined to be integrated with Tester Systems. The line of Gamma Scientific Digital Light Source products and the RS-5H come complete with an Automated, Self Test and Self Calibration mode. This unique feature improves the overall performance of the system and compensates for changes in LED performance over time. Alternative LEDs can also be incorporated into the design to increase the spectral range or accommodate UV and IR applications. LEDs can be user specified based on available LEDs.

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Mechanical Dimensions Note: Some mechanical dimensions of the RS-5H can be customized to meet tester requirements.

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Advantages Over Traditional Tungsten Light Sources 20x longer light-source lifetime compared to tungsten sources. Various RS-5 LED light sources that are installed for Sensor testing have operated for over 2 years without replacement of LEDs. Since 2001, less than 1% of RS-5 Light Source have had LED failures. Some RS-5 have been in continuous operation on Production lines for over 2 years. 2. Compared to tungsten light sources, the RS-5H is much easier to align. Uniformity alignment is self contained in the RS-5H. Each time the RS-5H is removed for periodic checking, re-installation on a tester takes only a few minutes.

EigenliteTM RS-5H High Power Spectrally Programmable Light Source – Advantages Over Traditional Tungsten Light Sources A Tungsten light source exhibits drift over its lifetime. As such periodic maintenance and calibration is required. The RS-5 LED light sources exhibit 10x more stability. This reduces production downtime and also reduces the cost of periodic maintenance. The RS-5H is programmable and tunable to unlimited types of Spectrums, Color Temperature and Power levels – Tungsten light source systems are limited to available filters. LED based light sources are smaller in size and produce less heat.
