What You Can Expect From Me, As Your Teacher: to teach you to help you learn, but you have to help me To treat you with respect to be consistent and fair to reward good behavior and to reprimand bad behavior to trust you You can trust that I do what I say and say what I mean

My Expectations of You I expect you to: be respectful listen try, try, try, try and try again follow directions the first time given do your work come prepared for class work well in groups have a great attitude be responsible

Classroom Rules Respect yourself and each other Listen & follow directions the first time Raise your hand and wait to be called on Stay in your seat while Mrs. Noble is teaching Hands, feet, and objects to yourself Always do your best!

Entrance Procedures When you come into the classroom, follow the routine! SLIDE INTO YOUR SEAT! come into the room quietly & respectfully have a sharpened pencil BEFORE the bell rings check the slide or board to see what you need to have for class turn in any homework if noted on the slide or board begin your SLIDE IN TO YOUR SEAT work – if you are not in your seat when the bell rings, you are TARDY SLIDE IN TO YOUR SEAT

Classroom Procedures During class please follow these basic procedures: When I say “Class, Class, Class” you say, “Yes, Yes, Yes” and that is your cue to be quiet, look & listen Listen with your ears, eyes, and whole body Be prepared to participate, ask, and answer questions No food or drink in our classroom unless instructed You may only go to the restroom or get a drink if it is an emergency & only during individual work time – Be sure to sign out on the form.

End of Class Procedures The bell does NOT dismiss the class – Mrs. Noble dismisses the class Do not pack up your things until Mrs. Noble dismisses you. Do not pack up your things early. Use the time to get your work done. Make sure you have all the materials before you leave – check the desk and floor .

Class Work It is your responsibility to keep up with your work, turn it in on time and put your name on it. ENGLISH - Students will need to participate & take notes in class. Monthly Reading Log – Students will need to keep track of and fill out. Students will have some time in class to read on 2 days of the week otherwise HW Core Drills Introducing & Reviewing Grammar Skills - Usually HW Writing Activities – All students will be writing and will be expected to write in complete sentences. You will write sentences, paragraphs, multi-paragraph papers, poems, lists, and comics. SCIENCE – Students will take notes and participate in class discussion and labs. Chapter Fold-ables – Students will take notes, define vocabulary, & answer concept questions both in class and as homework. Labs – Students will follow lab safety rules & procedures, participate, and complete write-ups. (Labs cannot be made-up.) Other Homework – defining vocabulary, summarizing science concepts, highlighting textual information Quizzes & Tests – Quizzes & tests will be used to determine need for re-teaching or extension. Corrections can be made on most quizzes or tests.

Group Work You will often be asked to work in pairs or groups. Group members will be randomly selected. You are expected to work cooperatively in a group. Do not argue or complain about who else is in your group. Ask your partner(s) any questions before you try to ask a teacher for help. You are put into groups to work cooperatively and to help each other out.

Homework “H.O.T.” (Homework On Time) card USE YOUR PLANNER to write down your homework everyday. Homework will be on the board & website. USE YOUR HOME TO/FROM SCHOOL FOLDER to keep track of your homework. TURN IN WORK – Do not wait for the teacher to ask for homework. Follow the instructions on board or slide. If you are absent, you must turn in any missing work “H.O.T.” (Homework On Time) card Turn in your completed homework on time & get a punch. 10 punches gets you a special treat. The card is your responsibility to keep up with. If you don’t have it with you, you forfeit the punch you would have gotten. If you lose your card, I will give you another one, but you will lose all the punches you already had on the lost card.

Lunch Invitation There will be times that I invite you to lunch for one of the following reasons. I want to re-teach a concept in a smaller group setting. You need to complete work. Although this invitation is not a detention, you are required to attend. I will let you know why you are invited & you need to bring any materials to complete the re-teaching or make-up work. You need to bring your lunch to the classroom and eat in the room. (DO NOT eat first and then come!) If you finish before the bell rings, you may go outside for any remaining time.

Late Work Not turning in your homework on time may result in a lunch detention or lower grade. You are responsible for turning in your work – Mrs. Noble will not remind you. After the fourth week, late work will not be accepted. .

Absences It is your responsibility to ask for any missed assignments due to absences – Look on the homework board, on the website, or ask me. to turn in any missing assignments due to absences – I will not ask for the missing work.

Hallway Behavior Be respectful and courteous – no rough housing – others are in class Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself Keep moving, if you stop to visit move to the side NO cell phone use in the hallway until after 7th period

Congratulations, you are now an expert on Mrs. Noble’s classroom! Let’s have a great year!
