Giving your clients extra From The Mentoring School

A few things you need to know

How apprentices feel Nearly half (48%) of apprentices do not feel supported by their employer Which means that you probably aren’t aware of all of those that feel like this In fact, 84% told us that employers needed training in how to work with apprentices Apprentices themselves recognise employers need to improve the support they offer

How employees feel Nearly half (49%) of employees do not feel confident in supporting your apprentices Only 3 in 10 people at team management level feel confident… Some won’t work with apprentices due to this And 97% say that these skills should be taught to the employees looking after apprentices Can you trust their staff to support your apprentices without training?

So why the Gap? Your tutors and assessors can only visit the apprentices every few weeks They are not there all of the time Many managers do not understand the need for supporting life or employability skills, they can see them as cheap employees Most do not understand their duty of care They do not understand about new apprenticeships Some have never worked with an apprentice before and are worried or anxious about the impact on their work
