POUR OUT YOUR HEART Psalm 62:8

Psalm 142:1–5 (HCSB) “I cry aloud to the Lord; I plead aloud to the Lord for mercy. 2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I reveal my trouble to Him. 3 Although my spirit is weak within me, You know my way. Along this path I travel they have hidden a trap for me. 4 Look to the right and see: no one stands up for me; there is no refuge for me; no one cares about me. 5 I cry to You, Lord; I say, “You are my shelter, my portion in the land of the living.”

Psalm 62:8 (HCSB) “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge.”

1. Remember God’s faithfulness in the PAST

Psalm 42:3–5 (HCSB) “My tears have been my food day and night, while all day long people say to me, “Where is your God?” 4 I remember this as I pour out my heart: how I walked with many, leading the festive procession to the house of God, with joyful and thankful shouts. 5 Why am I so depressed? Why this turmoil within me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God.”

Lamentations 3:19–23 (HCSB) “Remember my affliction and my homelessness, the wormwood and the poison. 20 I continually remember them and have become depressed. 21 Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. 23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”

2. Trust in God’s POWER for your FUTURE

Psalm 102:1-2, 5, 7-8, 12, 17 (HCSB) “Lord, hear my prayer; let my cry for help come before You. 2 Do not hide Your face from me in my day of trouble. Listen closely to me; answer me quickly when I call … 5 Because of the sound of my groaning, my flesh sticks to my bones … 7 I stay awake; I am like a solitary bird on a roof. 8 My enemies taunt me all day long; they ridicule and curse me … 12 But You, Lord, are enthroned forever; Your fame endures to all generations … 17 He will pay attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.”

Philippians 4:6 (HCSB) “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
