School-wide Behavior Expectations for ALL Students Be responsible Be respectful Be safe Be a problem solver

School-wide Behavior Expectations for ALL Students What does good behavior look like: On the playground? When arriving to school? When leaving? In the hallways? On the bus? In the bathrooms? In the LRC? The computer lab? During Assemblies? In the lunchroom?

Attendance District 45 believes that attendance is a key factor in student achievement and success in education. Attendance is the responsibility of parent/guardian, the student and the school. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to learn by 8:15am.

Attendance Call in: 516-6571 Leave: Child’s name Teacher’s name Reason for the absence You will receive written notification if your child has a number of absences that could put your child at risk of school failure.

Research says… “From the day children are born until they graduate high school, they spend just 15% of their waking hours in school. The other 85% is spent outside school-most of that is spent at home.”

District 45’s Wellness Policy Daily fitness opportunities Nutrition and health instruction Replace edible birthday treats with classroom activity Provide healthy food and beverage options at class parties and school celebrations

District 45’s Wellness Policy To celebrate a child’s birthday, let’s do: Extra recess board game time computer time reading a fav book to the class Parents can send in pencils, stickers, erasers, books, etc. instead

Playworks A framework for recess that encourages inclusion and problem-solving strategies Self-direct Encourages team work and active play Create a sense of community See Ms. Conboy, Mrs. Mascheri, or Ms. Kodl for more information

Communication Process If a concern arises, here is the proper chain you should follow: 1. Teacher-by phone or email 2. Principal or Asst. Principal 516-6500 3. Superintendent (Mr. Palmisano) 516-7700

Communication Process If a step in the “chain of command” is skipped or missed, you will be referred back to the person in the previous step. This ensures concerns are dealt with at the most direct level for the student. When all solutions fail, please move on to the next level of district faculty.

Safety Drills Drop off procedures Fire Tornado Suspicious person/lock-down drill Drop off procedures Obey all posted signs and laws Cross at crosswalks Have children exit cars on curb side I am just the principal…

PTA Joining the PTA does not obligate you to volunteer or participate in activities, but please consider volunteering to help out in the LRC, the classrooms, or at Family Events. Dues and fundraising money go towards many school projects such as assemblies, field day, book fair, and family events.

Questions? Together, we can make a difference for EVERY child
