Road to EOH Goal: Tips Playable demo of the main ideas of your game Does NOT need to be “finished” Think of this as a beta Tips Be willing to drop features to get something that works If your game uses levels, just make 1 small demo level Plan out the next 7 weeks

Safety Meetings Someone who has attended a safety meeting must be at your booth at all times! Every Tuesday starting 1/26 to 3/9, 11a-12p 112 Transportation Building Every Wednesday starting 1/27 to 3/10, 11a-12p 106B6 Engineering Hall

Night Before EOH Sprint to make game as cool as possible by morning (set up starts around 8 am) Pizza in the ACM office

Night Before EOH Implement a reset feature, so you don’t have to press F5 in VS Video wall requires 1024x768 VGA output We can print out posters for projects that want one

What EOH is like

What EOH is like We usually have a large booth with all of our games next to each other at the video wall

What EOH is like ACM provides us with monitors, power strips, tables, and sometimes computers and speakers 2-4 games can go on the video wall, one on the plasma screen Only one game on the video wall can output sound to the video wall speakers The rest can either be shown on your laptop screen or use an ACM monitor

What EOH is like People walk around, meander over to us, play the games Lots of kids on Friday morning, high school students in afternoon, professors, reporters Be prepared for kids who want to start making games and questions about what libraries you used, etc…

What EOH is like Most people will spend between 20 seconds and 3 minutes at each game Explain how to play as they play or they’ll get bored Some people will play much longer, even come back for more

What EOH is like Makes a great play testing opportunity, take some notes Keep your game running, don’t stop it to fix bugs

EOH Summary Friday March 12th Saturday March 13th 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Saturday March 13th 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Safety inspections a little bit before 9 Judges will visit early Friday, make sure you’re there ACM usually provides lunch for SIGs both days Some groups do shifts, some people like to stay the whole time Payoff for all your hard work

After EOH
