Word Wall Word Ideas Sort into known and unknown piles Play fill in the blank—you write part of the word, your child fills in the missing part…ri_ _ t (right) d _ _ n (down) You say it, spell it out loud, write it—then your child says it, spells it out loud, writes it Use fun paper, construction paper, scrap paper, chalk board, dry erase board, paint or water and paint brush, etc. Write with various tools—crayons, pencils, colored pencils, pens, markers, paint pens, etc. Do exercises as you say and spell…jumping jacks, clapping, hopping, etc. Write in dirt or sand, shaving cream, a tray of rice or beans, paper clips, etc.
