Warm -up What influence do movies, television, etc. have on culture? What do they reflect about culture?

What impact do society and entertainment have on each other? Why do entertainment and literature change with the passing of time? ?

Compare/Contrast Look up pictures of modern theatre spaces and the Globe Theatre. Create a compare/contrast chart and make at least 10 observations (whole chart), 2 pts each.

Act I, Scene 2 Setting: a camp King Duncan of Scotland asks a wounded captain for news about the Scots’ battle with the Irish invaders, led by Macdonwald. The captain was wounded while helping Duncan’s son, Malcolm, escape the Irish. The thane of Cawdor is declared a traitor, loses his title, and is sentenced to death. It is decided that Macbeth will become thane of Cawdor.

Act I, Scene 3 Setting: the heath The witches meet again. Predictions: Macbeth will be named as Thane of Cawdor then will become king. Banquo will be father to future generations of kings Ross and Angus confirm that Macbeth is to become thane of Cawdor.

Act I, Scene 4 Malcolm tells Duncan about Cawdor’s execution. Setting: the king’s palace Malcolm tells Duncan about Cawdor’s execution. Cawdor confessed and repented before his death. Duncan thanks Macbeth and Banquo for their heroism. Malcolm is declared heir, making him a threat to Macbeth. Plans are made for Duncan to dine at Macbeth’s castle. Macbeth goes to warn his wife.

Act I, Scene 5 Setting: Inverness, Macbeth’s castle Lady Macbeth reads a letter from her husband concerning his meeting with the Witches. Lady Macbeth decides to murder the king in order to speed up the prophesy. Lady Macbeth accuses Macbeth of being weak.
