Winter Guidance Presentation For Juniors

Focus of Today Course selection process Looking ahead to senior year and beyond ACT & SAT testing in the spring

Course Selection Process Things you need to consider. Colleges & technical/trade schools like to see a challenging schedule. Are honors or AP level courses right for you? You will not be able to change courses next year. What electives interest you or will help you decide on a college or career focus? View the Program of Studies on the high school website for class descriptions Consider unique opportunities such as a dual enrollment class, cyber, or Medical Career Pathways

Course Selection Process Have a conversation with your parents about what you want to take senior year and what implications that will have on college admissions and careers. Your counselor will meet with you to review your courses and make sure they are the best fit for your future plans.

Timeline for Course Selection January 13th – Period 1, drag sheet distribution. Discuss with teachers what classes would be appropriate for next school year January 14th – Continue meeting with teachers. Completed drag sheets turned in to your 7th period teacher (PM UBVTS = period 4) January 15th – Input course requests in Power School during PRIDE. Bring your charged netbook. We will have a DOUBLE PRIDE day. January 19th – One on one meetings with counselors begins for juniors
