What’s Happening Now? Michigan employers are introducing wellness programs at the workplace. BASF provides WeightWise at Work programs. HealthPlus of Michigan and Citizens Republic Bancorp, both Flint-based companies, made making healthy choices into a friendly competition. MGM, Trinity Health, General Dynamics provide workplace chronic illness self management programs.

What’s Happening Now? Employers are helping offset the cost of smoking cessation and fitness programs to encourage employee wellness. United Auto Supply is paying half the cost of a smoking cessation program (about $100) for employees and their spouses, and for the time it takes to complete. If successful, employees receive a gift to offset the other half of the cost.

What’s Happening Now? The Oakland County Wellness Coalition networked the county's chamber of commerce to share best practices and information about how to make corporate wellness programs more effective.
