System Review The School District of Palm Beach County, and all of its schools, AND VPK Early Learning Programs are working towards District Accreditation through AdvancED. District and Every school and All VPK Early Learning Programs

What is ? AdvancED is the world’s largest education accreditation community, serving: more than 34,000 public and private schools and districts (systems) across the United States more than 70 countries   over 20 million students AdvancED is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of PreK-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. 

Why Go Through This Process? External review assures the community of educational quality Cost savings to the District and schools Students have greater access to federal loans, scholarships, post-secondary education, and military programs that require students to attend accredited institutions. AdvancED Performance Accreditation requires that institutions must: Meet the Updated AdvancED Standards and accreditation policies. Demonstrate quality assurance through internal and external review. (video) Engage in a Continuous Improvement Journey Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)   Systems continuously raise the bar; align w/ latest research & best practices.

Ensure each student is well known by at least one adult. Improve the coordination of learning support services to alternative school settings. Previous (2013) SDPBC AdvancED Findings 2013 Required Actions: Analyze and evaluate instructional strategies throughout the secondary level to ensure high-leverage, researched-based strategies are being consistently implemented. Develop and implement opportunities for teams to collaborate among and across schools, programs, and grade levels. Implement a plan to increase student use of technology for learning in the classroom. Current Principals identified a POC in Principals’ Resource Center Bulletin released Summer and August POCs sign up for, and attend, required trainings. Register on District Accreditation website. (Offered six times in June and four in August) By September 1, 2017 POC will have attended required trainings and will begin working with school leadership teams on requirements. By October 12, 2017 School reports due for District DA team to review (completed in eProve – formerly ASSIST- but not submitted until final approval). November 2017 Schools will finalize reports and submit via eProve. However, we may reach out to you during this time to discuss your report. December 2017 Prepare selected schools and District for January visit. January 2018 Quality Assurance Review (QAR) team visits January 28-31, 2018.

By December 2017 AdvancEd will inform us which 40-50 schools were selected for the engagement site visit. If your school is selected, you will receive additional information and training. ALL principals will participate in leadership interviews during visit in January 2018. Schools not selected administrators will be prepared for district interviews.
