Course description: 7th Grade Common Core Mathematics Our students will work in the 21st century marketplace – and we need to prepare them. Many jobs require people to think, reason, and use technology wisely. Common core math will not just require students to memorize and recite, but to evaluate and explore. FOR MORE INFO... Let’s look at the Syllabus....

Course description: Accelerated 7th grade Common Core Math What is Common Core? Understanding mathematics at the conceptual basis – and well enough to use the concepts to solve real-life problems. Common core math will not just require students to memorize and recite, but to evaluate and explore. This class moves fast (hint: Accelerated). Some concepts will be similar to elementary school, but now the emphasis will be on using prior skills to solve and explain problems, as well as being able to defend answers. Students who are successful will be able to take Integrated 1 in 8th grade. This course is the entry level high school course.

Syllabus: Two-dimensional geometry Integers and rational numbers Similarity Rates, ratios, percents, and proportions Linear relationships Probability Three dimensional measurement Samples and Populations

Classroom guidelines: Homework - is usually 3-4 problems or a journal response. If a problem asks for an explanation, it should be written in complete sentences. Each month students will check out a mini-book to use for class and homework. It remains in their backpack at all times.

Extra Resources... Regular red textbook Math tutoring on Tuesdays – in C110 Lunchtime help – here in my room.

Grades: Grades are posted weekly - here in classroom. We send home grade reports for all students at the 4th week, at the 9th week end of Quarter, and the 13th week. Semester report cards will be mailed home in January at end of Semester, followed by Awards ceremony. If you are concerned, check their grades online at any time at Parent connect.

Please sign up on clipboard if you do NOT have Parent connect logon Please sign up on clipboard if you do NOT have Parent connect logon. You only need one LOGON for all of your CNUSD students. Open Assignments Section

Make sure you check the SHOW ALL box…

Team 3 Reminders Please sign up for Remind 101 if you haven’t done so. I will send out reminders and occasionally I will send a notice if there are homework changes. Inappropriate items: Cell phone use in class, head phones on in class, inappropriate clothing, spray-on cologne or body spray (we can’t open a window to let out the horrible stench of Axe).

Parent involvement. It is very important to stay connected with your student’s education. Talk to them. Volunteer… Nag. Nag. Nag…. It’s your job. Call or email us if you need any assistance. Donate small supplies for our team store. Students use PAWS points to buy supplies.
