Kőbánya: Kőbánya is District 10 of Budapest, with 70,000 local residents, a strong industrial background, old and new housing estates; The Pongrac housing estate was a segregated, deprived neighbourhood that needed intervention; The URBACT RegGov exchange was beneficial to producing the Local Action Plan (LAP) and drawing up a project proposal for the social urban renewal of the Pongrac housing estate. Kőbánya: Good Practice Example

Good Practice: LAP: Integrated social urban renewal of the Pongrac housing estate: 1 area selection 2 strategy 3 partnership with local residents Implementation: ERDF funded Operative Program project based on the LAP Short-term results: new employment opportunities, better living conditions, community building Long-term effects: lower housing maintenance costs, better outlook for children, more skilled workforce „Hardware”: renovation of the housing stock, revitalization of the public space „Software”: NGOs providing community programs, trainings for adults Kőbánya: Good Practice Example

Success Factors: Developing solutions that can be used in other deprived neighbourhoods of Kőbánya How to transfer to other cities? UNDERSTAND: analyse, explain carefully (social, legal framework, ownership issues), be proud of your achievements ADAPT: be bold about your challenges, dilemmas, traps and how avoid them  learning REUSE: think about transferable parts of your good practice (others may pick up some unexpected elements) Kőbánya: Good Practice Example

Mollet de Valles: Overview 52.000 inhabitants 15 km from Barcelona A city with 2 souls: 50% URBAN - 50% RURAL The rural territory belongs to a natural protected area called Gallecs: 1.000 hectares LINK URBAN and RURAL Awarded as European green Leaf 2015-2016 Mollet del Vallès: Good Practice Example

Good Practice Example: Diet for a Green Planet Knowledge Transfer Network Lead Partner: Södertälje (Sweden) Topic: political decision to use the purchase of food in public canteens as a tool to reach environmental goals and to adjust the diet to a sustainable development Diet Policy at Local Level Diet Unit: 84 public canteens, 17.000 meals/day, 57% organic Food and + 200 employees Diet for a Green Planet Concept Mollet del Vallès: Good Practice Example

Mollet de Valles: Success Factors An introspective journey”: To analyse the public service, the food quality, the state of the art (baseline study) A participative and integrated approach: - “The allies game” (stakeholders analysis): local producers, teachers, parents associations, private companies, politicians, etc. - “The mirror effect”: To set up a team, which reproduced Södertälje’s organisation: cooks, nutritionists, dieticians, etc. Adapting the knowledge transfer to our legal framework: a new public procurement model and Policy. Knowledge: a two way – road “The resistance to change”: To keep a persuasive attitude Bottom up approach Diet for a Green Planet: a transfer in all directions Mollet del Vallès: Good Practice Example
