USBPix Readout System using FE-I4B: Initial Setup Scans/Troubleshooting Jimin Kim and Austin Piehl University of Washington Department of Physics

Basic Hardware Setting FE-I4A FE-I4B Missing the Ribbon Cable socket Ethernet Jack is already connected properly

Basic Hardware Setting FE-I4A Connection FE-I4B Connection In both setup, we supply 2.2V from the external power supply to the USBPix FEI4 Adapter

Basic Software Setting The FE Flavour is still showing up as FEI4A

Basic Software Setting After initializing the controllers and DCS objects The voltage is all set to 2.0V manually but doesn’t go up more than ~1.54V

Basic Software Setting After initialization, the current supplied to the USBPix is around 0.47A (FEI4 - ~0.16A) The voltage stays the same after configuring all active modules (FEI4 - ~0.68A) There is no problem with 4-Pin Power Cable

Basic Test Results RX_DELAY_SCAN DIGITAL_TEST The scan explicitly execute the phase alignment of USBPix’s 160Mhz Clock, modifying the phase setting; Usually run after each power cycle Error due to the not enough voltage supplied?

Troubleshooting STControl showing FE Flavour as FEI4 instead of FEI4B (Solved) Solution Create a new configuration file from the scratch and set the FE Flavour as “FEI4B from the scratch” LDO Regulator voltage bottleneck issue Directly connect the FEI4B chip to the Power Supply and feed 2.0V directly Another solution from STControl? Current reading from the power supply staying the same after configuration Test again after successfully supplying 2.0V to single chip Failure to run the RX_DELAY_SCAN and DIGITAL_TEST Test again after successfully supplying 2.0V to single chip

Future Plan Successfully run the DIGITAL and ANALOG Test Successfully reproduce the entire tuning procedure that has been done in FEI4A Update the Sharepoint after Successful Tuning Draft is done, just need to confirm the case of FEI4B
