California Environmental Data Exchange Network Submit Data Integrating data from many different programs and data generators is one of CEDEN’s main goals. To assist with this task the Regional Data Centers (RDCs) have developed applications to support agencies, organizations and groups who want to submit their data to CEDEN. These applications help improve data comparability in the CEDEN system by checking data prior to submittal. Standard templates have been developed for use with the data checkers and to increase data comparability across the CEDEN network. These templates and associated documentation can be downloaded at the links below. If this is your first time submitting data to CEDEN, or if you are preparing to submit data for a new project, please contact your local Regional Data Center to register your project as well as answer any questions you might have. If you are unsure of which RDC to contact, please contact the help desk. CEDEN also has established a list of valid values that are used for submitting, reporting and exchanging data within the CEDEN system. Valid values are acceptable names and codes for analytes, projects, organism names, etc. Below is a link to the accepted values lists. These values will be updated periodically as new values are created. Please check back periodically to obtain the most current list. To submit values for inclusion into the CEDEN system please contact your local Regional Data Center. California Environmental Data Exchange Network Submit Data Templates Templates were designed to help data generators submit their data into the CEDEN system. Templates are modeled after the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP) and also will help data generators be SWAMP comparable. Some existing programs have specialized templates that are used to submit data to their local RDC. Please contact your local Regional Data Center or the help desk with any questions about submitting your data or using the appropriate templates. Stations Template (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains specific fields related to the monitoring station (e.g., StationCode, Waterbody, Hydrologic Subarea) which allows for stations to be categorized by geographic area and be comparable to other programs’ stations. Field Collection and Results Template (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains multiple worksheets with the appropriate fields required to load historic and current field and habitat data into the database.  A data submission example also is available.  Documentation on how to fill out the template will be forthcoming. Chemistry Data Template (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains two worksheets including Results and LabBatch as well as a data submission example. Documentation on how to fill out the template also is available. Toxicity Data Template (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains three worksheets including Results, Summary, and ToxBatch as well as a data submission example. Documentation on how to fill out the template also is available. California Environmental Data Exchange Network Submit Data Tissue Data Templates (updated 10/20/09) The CEDEN database is designed to store data elements for analytes in fish, bivalve, bird, and mammal tissue. Fish and bivalve data types currently are used and supported in the following templates.  Documentation on how to fill out the templates is also available. Tissue Composite (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains worksheets for tissue Composites and SuperComposites as well as a data submission example. Tissue Results (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file that contains worksheets for tissue Results and LabBatch as well as a data submission example. Taxonomic Data Template (updated 10/20/09) A Microsoft Excel file for submitting lab effort and species results data. Documentation on how to fill out the template also will be forthcoming. Use the following links for taxonomic reference:  Marine - SCAMIT and Freshwater - SAFIT. California Environmental Data Exchange Network Submit Data Valid Value Lists Valid Value Lists are maintained within the CEDEN system to increase data comparability across many different projects. The below links will allow you to view the associated valid values as well as download them. New or updated values within the list may be identified by reviewing the LastUpdate field in the table.
