Equivalent Expressions through Connect Ed The student will go to their online resources and watch a few video tutorial about equivalent expressions. They will then practice what they learned by completing a self-check quiz. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Go to Connect Ed and log onto your online resources. Go to Chapter 6, Lesson 7 (Equivalent Expressions). Watch THREE video tutorials about equivalent expressions and take notes whiles watching the tutorial. Go to the Self-Check Quiz and take the quiz to check for your understanding of the concept. Write down any questions you may have about the questions you got incorrect. There is a discussion link for you to ask the teacher any questions you may have about the questions you got wrong. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The students will be able to write equivalent expressions by watching an online video tutorial to learn about writing the expressions. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/email: School: Louisiana State Standard: Grade Level/Subject: Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

Reviewing equivalent expressions with Class kick The students will be reviewing how to simplify expressions. This is through the use of an app and the teacher will be allowed to help the students through the app. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. **Prior to this activity, the teacher will have to upload the questions into the class kick app and set up an assignment. This will take no longer than 5 minutes. Click on the app called “Class kick’ and log onto the course code that the teacher gives you. Work the problems out on the class kick app. When you complete a problem you will click on the “Check problem” button and the teacher will check your work and if you need help on a problem you will click on the “Help” button and the teacher will be able to help you. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The student will be able to simplify equivalent expressions. Equivalent Expressions M Equivalent Expressions The students will look at the picture and write two equivalent expressions that represent the picture. They will then go to a “Today’s Meet” session to discuss their reasoning. MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Look at the picture below. Read the Problem and answer question 1 Using the Q-R code the teacher has given you, go to Today’s Meet and share with the other tables ONE of your expressions. Explain to them how you determined this expression. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The students will be able to show two equivalent expressions and then discuss their reasoning through a collaborative meeting. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/email: School: Louisiana State Standard: Grade Level/Subject: Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

Equivalent Expressions Task with Show Me tutorial The student will work on the task below. They will then work with a side-by-side partner to create a show me math tutorial. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Complete and work on the task below with a side-by-side partner. Go to the Show Me app on your I-Pad. Take a picture of the task. You will create a tutorial of all the steps you took to completing the problem. Make sure that both partners take part in the tutorial. I want to see two different handwritings and hear two different voices. Save your video with your first three letters of first name and First letter only of last name. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): The students will complete a task determining equivalent expressions and then they will use the “Show Me” app to create a math tutorial of how they determined their answer.
