Patriotic Symbols or National Symbols

The American Flag Has 50 stars and 13 stripes. The stars stand for the 50 states and the stripes stand for the 13 original colonies. When we salute the flag we must place our right hand over our hearts and stand and look at the flag. We also must remove a hat if we are wearing one.

The Bald Eagle It is the national bird of the U.S.A. It only lives in North America It symbolizes the strength and freedom of the U.S.A.

The Liberty Bell It is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was rung after the first reading of the declaration of independence. It symbolizes freedom.

Washington Monument The monument is a huge stone column in honor of our first president, George Washington. It is located in Washington D.C.

Lincoln Memorial The memorial is located in Washington D.C. It was built to help people remember Abraham Lincoln.

The Star Spangled Banner It is our national anthem It was originally written as a poem and then turned into a song It was written by Francis Scott Key It was written during the war of 1812
