WELSH AMATEUR BOXING ASSOCIATION ARE LOOKING FOR: New Board members from within the sport of boxing Willingness to learn & make a positive difference to WABA Able to commit the time to attend Board Meetings (please note Board meetings will rotate across the Divisions & we will utilise video conferencing/phone conferencing to minimise travel for all Board members) Able to commit time to manage their specific monthly tasks The WABA Board should ideally reflect the diversity of the sport across Wales An appreciation of the legal requirements and process of running a modern limited company

THE WABA PROPOSED BOARD STRUCTURE CHAIR Role Objectives The Chairperson of WABA is seen to be a figure head, ambassador and a principal officer for the organisation. A Chairperson will chair and lead meetings within WABA, and be responsible for key decision making and leadership, in consultation with other Board members. Duties and Responsibilities To provide direction for WABA through effective leadership and management To chair and control Board meetings, determining the agenda & content for Board meetings To present WABA’s annual accounts, in association with the Treasurer/Company Secretary To ensure that club statutory documents and other returns are administered and filed on time To line manage the Chief Operating Officer Skills and Qualities Required Enthusiastic with a good knowledge of WABA and its financial position A knowledge and understanding of amateur boxing Leadership and management skills Able to represent WABA with external partners Confident in public speaking Able to control meetings, follow meeting agendas, and ensure everyone has the opportunity to present their views Well-informed about agendas of meetings and the items to be covered Ability to ensure that all business at meetings is completed and that all decisions are understood and recorded A good communicator, approachable, clear and concise Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 4-5 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.

THE WABA PROPOSED BOARD STRUCTURE VICE CHAIR Role Objectives The Vice Chairperson will support the Chairperson to lead WABA. The Vice Chairperson will attend all Board meetings within the organisation, and support the Chair in the making of key decisions and leadership within WABA, in consultation with other Board members. In the absence of the Chairperson, the Vice Chair will take on the role of Chair. Duties and Responsibilities To support the Chairperson and control Board meetings To consult with the Chairperson on matters regarding WABA, supporting in making decisions when required To represent WABA at external meetings when required To be involved, where appropriate, in the coordination of WABA activities To support the Chairperson to manage and oversee the work of WABA staff and volunteers Skills and Qualities Required Enthusiastic with a good knowledge of WABA and its financial position A knowledge and understanding of boxing Leadership and management skills, a good communicator and confident in public speaking Able to represent WABA at external meetings Able to support the Chairperson to control meetings, follow meeting agendas, and ensure everyone has the opportunity to present their views Well-informed about agendas of meetings and the items to be covered Ability to support the Chairperson to ensure that all business at meetings is completed and that all decisions are understood and recorded Role Details This is a voluntary role. THE WABA PROPOSED BOARD STRUCTURE BOARD DIRECTOR or NON EXECUTIVE; SAFEGUARDING & EQUALITY Role Objectives The Safeguarding & Equality Board Director will provide leadership and strategic direction in the areas of equality and the safeguarding, diversity and protection of children & vulnerable adults. Duties and Responsibilities Providing advice and guidance to the COO, Board, GC & members on equality and boxer safety To resolve operational issues in safeguarding and equality To ensure adherence to safeguarding and equality best practice throughout WABA To work with partner organisations to ensure that best practice in WABA continues to evolve and improve Compiling and submitting documents to enable WABA to attain the next level of the Equality Standard in Sport. To review & update processes for safeguarding and protecting of children and vulnerable adults. Communicate processes to GC, Divisions and member clubs within WABA Resolving safeguarding issues, including investigatory work, selecting members of Case Management Groups, maintaining effective communications with all parties and maintaining case records Skills and Qualities Required Experience of either Equality or Safeguarding, in a professional or voluntary capacity Experience and understanding of sport, ideally boxing Experience of working with children and young people Understanding of the relevant legal framework and national guidance for relevant policies Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 2-3 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities Be able to deliver the key legal and governance objectives of the current WABA strategy To provide advice & guidance to the Board, COO, & GC on the current legal & governance positions To work with legal & governance partners to ensure WABA are complying with all guidelines Ensuring all policies are up to date Resolve legal and governance issues with all the relevant parties Skills and Qualities Required Experience in a legal or governance capacity Experience and understanding of sport, ideally boxing Have experience of working at a senior level to promote the work of an organisation Have the ability to lead the Board of developing and delivering a legal & governance plan Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 2-3 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.

THE WABA PROPOSED BOARD STRUCTURE BOARD DIRECTOR or NON EXECUTIVE; COMMUNICATIONS Role Objectives To provide leadership and strategic direction focusing on the vision, core values and objectives of WABA. Duties and Responsibilities In liaison with the Board Chair, Chief Operating Officer and fellow Board members: Establish a vision and strategy for the organisation; Monitor progress against agreed goals and objectives; Review the core values of the vision at least every four years; Monitor performance, financial expenditure, risk and resource allocation against the strategic plan at least quarterly; Build effective relationships with external partners as required by the Board; Undertake training as appropriate and participate in an annual Board evaluation process and individual evaluation; Attend events and meetings as appropriate and act as hosts to partners, sponsors and other stakeholders as required. Skills and Qualities Required Be a member of a recognised institute or association in the fields of communications, public affairs/relations, sponsorship or marketing; Have experience of working at senior level to promote the work of an organisation; Have the ability to lead the Board on developing a communications plan; Be able to lead the organisation on developing its marketing and branding to reflect its values and culture Have experience of sponsorship development and/or CSR (community and social responsibility) Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 2-3 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.

THE WABA PROPOSED BOARD STRUCTURE BOARD DIRECTOR or NON EXECUTIVE; FINANCE Role Objectives To provide financial leadership for Welsh Amateur Boxing, this Board director or non-executive director will be required to develop and deliver the financial strategic direction of WABA, ensuring growth and sustainability. Duties and Responsibilities Set the long term financial policies and strategy for WABA Approval of the financial controls & annual capital expenditure Maintaining financial governance at Board level Play a full part in enabling the Board to arrive at balanced and objective decisions in the performance of its agreed role and functions in relation to Welsh Amateur Boxing’s Strategic Plan and any encompassing Government funding agreements Skills and Qualities Required Ideally an accredited accountant, finance controller or financial director of a limited company Passionate about boxing, and wanting to make a positive difference to sport in Wales The ability to think and plan ahead, to develop a clear vision and enthuse others The ability to accept accountability for Board performance, and probe and challenge constructively, and the ability to hold the COO to account A high level of ability to influence, with political acumen Be committed to working as a team member, and the ability to take on a personal leadership role and build an effective team Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 2-3 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.

Once defined the key objective will be to deliver and monitor the plan over the coming 2 years. Duties and Responsibilities Define the community vision for WABA in Wales, work with the Board and ensure we optimise revenue and growth with all members Ensure WABA are aware of potential grants and educate members in the process of local funding Build a sustainable model which clubs can work within, regardless of their own vision Oversee all monitoring and evaluations for WABA, & work with external partners ensuring best practise Skills and Qualities Required Experience of developing or working with a community based organisation Passion for boxing, and wanting to make a difference to the sport across Wales Excellent Board level verbal and written skills Ability to lead change, and have the personality to make a positive contribution Proven leadership skills and an appreciation of the volunteer sector Role Details This is a voluntary role. Time commitment required will vary throughout the year, however we anticipant 2-3 hours per week. You will be able to claim travel expenses.
