ABOUT THE COMPANY Sosny Research and Development Company was set up in Dimitrovgrad in 1992. Main activities: design of equipment and development of technologies for the nuclear fuel cycle. Sosny R&D Company has its offices in three Russian cities: Moscow, Dimitrovgrad and Elektrostal. Total number of employees is 343. Average age is 41. Key experts of Sosny R&D Company: graduators of universities in Moscow (MSU, MEPhI, MPEI), Saint-Petersburg (SPBU), Yekaterinburg (UFU-UPI), Tomsk (TPI), Ulyanovsk (UlSU) and Dimitrovgrad (branch of MEPhI). Qualification: 2 Doctors of Engineering Science, 9 Doctors of Philosophy and 12 Ph.D. students. Our personnel are trained in the best advanced training centers in Russia. EQUIPMENT FOR SNF LOADING AND TRANSPORT Transfer casks for loading spent fuel, including the liquid one, into TUK-19 and SKODA VPVR/M casks Energy absorbing container for shipping the radioactive materials in SKODA VPVR/M cask with no restrictions on activity by all modes of transport including aircraft Overpacks for transportation of TUK-19 casks by all modes of transport

SAFETY ANALYSIS Sosny's Safety Analysis Department conducts comprehensive safety analysis of the procedures and equipment developed, including: nuclear and radiation safety, fire and explosion safety, design analysis, risk analysis, safety analysis reports (SAR). Calculations are made by state-of-the-art software (ANSYS, LsDYNA, MCU-RFFI/A, MMKFK-2-BASE, TDMCC) certified by the regulatory authorities in due order. All experts dealing with the safety analysis have necessary certificates.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Scientific support to all Company’s projects including development of a scientific and methodical basis for the safe handling of the spent fuel in transit, storage and reprocessing, arrangement and support to experiments, analysis of engineering solutions and safety analysis of radioactive material handling. Experts of Sosny R&D Company are members of the international expert group formed to provide consulting support to Japan in elimination of accident consequences and decommissioning of Fukushima-1 NPP Photos from the site www.irid.or.jp

PILOT PRODUCTION FACILITY In 2014, the Company launched its own Pilot Production Facility in Dimitrovgrad in order to manufacture the equipment designed by the Company’s specialists, to furnish it with automatic equipment, to carry out different tests and to try out the most critical process operations. This production facility is equipped with modern metal cutting equipment, welding equipment, etc. Also it has necessary quality control equipment

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES The quality management system of Sosny R&D Company is based on ISO 9001:2008 requirements and confirmed by International Certificate of Registration issued by National Quality Assurance Limited (NQA), Great Britain.  The certification sphere covers: Design of equipment and development of automatic systems for process monitoring and control, radiation monitoring, emergency alarm, communication and video surveillance for nuclear facilities, Development of procedures for handling spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, Rendering SNF and radwaste handling services to operating organizations, and Handling nuclear and radioactive materials in the process of their transportation to perform transport and expedition activities. Sosny R&D Company has all necessary licenses for design, development and manufacture of equipment for nuclear power plants, nuclear material buildings and facilities, and nuclear fuel cycle facilities.
