Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy What is an SSHP? Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy Educate members about career options in acute and ambulatory settings Prepare students for residency programs Career development Professional development Networking Promote research Encourage proper use of medicines in the general public Promote participation in service activities throughout the community Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy (or SSHP) is a general term used to describe student organizations that represent hospital and health-system practice.  SSHPs educate student members about careers options in hospitals and health-system pharmacy, provide opportunities for professional development and networking by working closely with the local, state, and national affiliate. Okay…so who is ASHP?

Represent Pharmacists in: Hospitals Ambulatory Clinics ASHP is an over 40,000-member national professional association that represents pharmacists who serve as patient care providers in acute and ambulatory settings. ASHP has a long history of improving medication use and enhancing patient safety. Long Term Care Facilities Home Care Health Maintenance Organizations Other Components of Health-Systems

ASHP State Affiliates - OSHP OSHP Residency Showcase OSHP Division Meetings OSHP Annual Meeting COSHP Dinners COSHP Wine Tasting Mentors Leadership opportunities Scholarship Opportunities There are many opportunities for involvement at the state level including attending local meetings, presenting posters, meeting mentors, and more. In Central Ohio, we are lucky enough to work closely with OSHP (state affiliate; Ohio Society of Health System Pharmacists) and COSHP (local affiliate, Central Ohio Society of Health Systems Pharmacists) http://www.ohioshp.org/

SSHP Relationship with ASHP and State Affiliates affiliation Triad Local Affiliate (COSHP) affiliation affiliation recognition State Affiliate (OSHP) ASHP Both ASHP and SSHP are directly affiliated with OSHP. OSHP is a chapter of ASHP, SSHP is a chapter of OSHP. However, we as SSHP are not a chapter of ASHP directly. ASHP has a relationship with SSHPs indirectly through their state affiliates and directly via the ASHP-SSHP Recognition program. This recognition is represented by the dotted arrow. affiliation
