Content Web 2.0 Tools of Web 2.0 Social Media Social Networks Enterprise Social Networks Social Commerce B2B,B2C in Web 2.0 Future and trends of Web 2.0

Web 2.0 The term Web 2.0 was coined by O’Reilly Media in 2004 Web 2.0 is the second generation of Internet-based tools and services that enables users to easily generate content, share media, and communicate and collaborate, in innovative ways (Edwards, 2013) The five C’s of web 2.0 (Karakas, 2009) COLLABORATION, CREATIVITY, CONNECTIVITY, COVERGENCE, COMMUNITY

Tools of Web 2.0 Social media Social Networks Virtual Worlds Wikis RSS feeds Blogs, and microblogs (e.g., Twitter).

Social Media The major implementation tools of social computing are Web 2.0 and social media. Social media involves user generated online text, image, audio, and video content that are delivered via Web 2.0 platforms and tools Users produce, control, and manage content.

Social network Subcategory of Social Media Social Networking: The execution of any Web 2.0 activity, such as blogging or having a presence in a social network. It also includes all activities conducted in social networks Include Online communities Share information Connect people with same interest Personal, Business, Political Facebook, Hyves, Friendster, Orkut, MySpace, LinkedIn, Plaxo Flickr, You-Tube, Slideshare, Iens

Social Network A social network is a social entity composed of nodes (which are generally individuals, groups, or organizations) that are connected by links such as hobbies, friendship or profession. Social Networking Services provide and host a Web space for people to build their homepages for free provide basic support tools for conducting different activities and allow many vendors to provide apps (i.e. singers found on YouTube)

Enterprise Social Networks Public (i.e. LinkedIn) Private (Company Private Network i.e. that invite customers to share experiences, mention their opinion about products) SOCIAL COMMERCE E-commerce activities that are conducted in social networks by using social software tools i.e. Dell Computer claims to have made $6.5 million by selling computers on Twitter in 2 years (Nutley, 2010 ) Also, Dell generates ideas from community members at its Idea Storm site.

B2B and B2C in Web 2.0 More companies are using blogs, microblogs, wikis, RSS feeds, video ads, podcasts, and other tools in B2B and B2C EC. i.e. Orabrush Inc. ( orabrush.com ) is a startup company that makes tongue cleaners that reduce bad breath (Youtube) B2B Games (Gamification) Virtual games, or gamifi cation , refer to virtual games designed to support B2B training and decision making. Players compete against each other and make market predictions (DiMauro, 2012 ).

B2B,B2C in Web 2.0 Virtual trade shows and fairs are gaining popularity. They are primarily B2B in nature. i.e. MarketPlace365 ( marketplace365.com ) is a vendor that gives companies tools to build virtual trade shows and attract traffic to the shows Social media can be used to support exhibits even in physical trade shows (Patterson, 2012)

By the end of 2013, social networking was playing a much more important role in B2B. both small and large businesses are using social networks quite successfully to find and retain new business (Leggatt, 2010) Twitter and LinkedIn are the most-used social networks in B2B in 2013 (Pardot, 2011). Twitter is used by Companies TO MONITOR CONVERSATIONS FOR FUTURE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

WEB 2.O The future Web 2.0 is here? What’s next????? Web 3.0, web 4.0 and web 5.0

Web 3.0 Future and Expected Capabilities Make current applications smarter by introducing new intelligent features Provide easier and faster interaction, collaboration and user engagement Facilitate intelligent-based powerful search engines Provide more user-friendly application creation and human-computer interaction capabilities Increase the wisdom and creativity of people

Semantic Web Semantic Web, is basically a group of methods that focus on machines (in contrast with Web 2.0 that focuses on people) The technology attempts to enable computers to understand the semantics (i.e., the meaning) of information, by using natural language understanding tools. An experimental Semantic Web browser has been in use lately. This browser enables users to display data, draw graphs, and make browsing more interactive. (e.g., w3.org/standards/semanticweb)

Other Predictions More intelligent computers Larger and more efficient data centers based on cloud computing Use of virtualization in computing infrastructure that will enable the running of any application on an external computing grid Parallel processing grids that will cut processing costs by 90% Utility and cloud computing will become the norm

Web 4.0 and Web 5.0 Web 4.0 is the Web generation after Web 3.0. It is still an unknown entity. It is known as Symbiotic Web (Aghaei et al. 2012) Web 5.0 : According to Patel ( 2013 ), “Web 5.0 is still an underground idea in progress and there is no exact definition of how it would be. Web 5.0 can be considered as Symbionet Web, decentralized.”
