How to Set Up an Information Interview Make a list of your network (friends, family, coworkers, former classmates, dentist, doctor, anyone you know) Activity: take five minutes to list your contacts. Look at any organizations you belong to or think about joining one. Professional association, school clubs or teams. Check out Meetup.com for local groups in your community Use your existing network to connect you to someone who is either working in your industry, occupation, or company of interest Use LinkedIn, Twitter, and other sites to connect as well Email them politely asking them for their time for half an hour to an hour for an information interview. Give them a reason to say no and/or to speak to you over the phone or via email Prepare a set of questions to ask Respect their time during the interview and make sure to ask for another contact!
