1. How did Louis XVI’s qualities as a leader contribute to the French Revolution? Louis XVI didn’t care about politics or his people. His wife, Marie Antoinette was not liked by the French people and she was very dominant over Louis.

Causes of the French Revolution? Old Regime Inequality Between Three Estates Louis XVI Weak Leadership (Spending) Economic Troubles (Price of Bread)

How was French society organized? Who was in each estate? French government was not equal and people became disconnected with government. First Estate: clergy and Roman Catholic Church (less then 1% of the population) Second Estate: Rich nobles and held highest office in government (2%) Third Estate: Everyone else (97%)

Enlightenment intellectual movement that proposed new ideas about government and society The French revolutionists got their ideas from the philosophers of Enlightenment like John Locke and Rousseau French people wanted a new government and more individual rights

It is like the Declaration of Independence It was a statement of Revolutionary ideals adopted by France’s National Assembly in 1789 It reflected influence of the Declaration of Independence

7.) Louis XVI seemed to go along with the ideas of the revolution at first. Why did he eventually resist the revolution? King Louis wanted to maintain popularity among the people, and agreed to some reforms. He then resisted when things became chaotic and the people wanted him dead.

Women’s Role in the Revolution Fought for equality along the men Marched to Versailles because they wanted bread for their families. Began to attend meetings of political clubs, and both men and women soon agitated for the guarantee of women’s rights. Women’s Role in the Revolution

#11 How were the initial goals of the French Revolution distorted during the Reign of Terror? The French Revolution was about democracy and liberty, fraternity, and equality. They thought by killing the King that it would stop but instead they got the Reign of Terror and a Napoleon as a Empire.

11. What were the long-term effects of the French Revolution? The French Revolution diminished the country. It started a new era of Democracy. Napoleon takes over, and creates the Napoleon Code, nationalism is spread throughout the country. The French Revolution influenced other revolutions in other countries.
