EOPS Mission EOPS is a state-funded student service program that promotes academic excellence among students from low-income, underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. EOPS promotes excellence by offering services that are above, beyond, and in addition to services available to all LMC students.

Policies & Procedures

The following policies outline what EOPS expects of you and what you can expect of EOPS when engaging its services.

Appealing for readmission Policy Students dismissed from EOPS due to back-to-back semesters of non-compliance must submit a written request for readmission. (You cannot appeal limited services status.) Procedure Review appeals process with EOPS staff After being dismissed from EOPS, complete 6 units with term GPA of 2.0 or better semester Submit written appeal with supporting documents Submit EOPS application Add move from good standing to limited services.

Using book vouchers Policy Only for LMC Bookstore For one-time use Expires 2/3/17 Only textbook purchases or loans Procedure Present ID and printed class schedule to LMC Bookstore If book is not in stock: -- Return to bookstore to purchase -- Bookstore reactivates your voucher Books purchased are your property to keep, sale back or share with other students

Engaging counseling services Policy No children allowed (District policy) No-show, cancel, and/or rescheduled appointments will not be guaranteed make-up No drop-ins After 10 minutes, no admittance Procedure Schedule appointments in person or by phone EOPS sends appointment reminder Reminder calls are a courtesy. You are responsible to make and attend all appointments.

Procedure Exception: If student meets a non-EOPS counselor for 1 of the 2 required counseling meetings, student must: Submit proof meeting date and time Submit proof meeting fulfilled counseling objective Submit proof during counseling meeting deadline

Enrolling at multiple campuses Policy Majority of units must be taken at LMC Procedure Designate LMC as financial “home” Receive EOPS program services only at LMC

Requesting a nine (9) unit waiver Policy Continuing students successfully completing (2.0 or better) 12 units may take 9.0-11.9 units in next fall or spring semester Semesters with less than 12 units cannot be back-to-back This policy can only be used 2 times during entire EOPS tenure Procedure/Example If completed 12 units with 2.0 GPA in spring 2017 Option to enroll 9.00 to11.99 units in fall 2017 No waiver needed Meet counselor during fall 2017 to revise Ed Plan Note: financial aid status may be impacted due to non-full-time enrollment

Academic Progress Report (APR) Policy Student must meet with ALL instructors during office hours to obtain instructor feedback for ALL enrolled classes. Must show comments– letter and/or grade Procedure Download APR at EOPS website (see forms tab) Make appointment with instructor Submit APR to EOPS Office by March 10, 2017, 1:00pm

Discontinuing EOPS partnership Voluntarily withdraw Earn 70 degree-applicable units Complete 6 consecutive semesters (summers excluded) Dishonor MRC two (2) consecutive semesters

Re-establishing positive academic progress Policy Students earning Ds or Fs at APR deadline must meet with EOPS counselor or staff no later than two weeks after the APR deadline to devise a strategic plan Procedure Develop strategic plan with EOPS counselor Meet counselor/staff, at least, 2 days before semester drop deadline

Requesting a time/unit limit waiver Policy Full-service students with “high unit majors” as defined by California Community College Chancellor’s Office may petition to extend their eligibility for EOPS services for up to 2 semesters. Procedure Meet counselor to determine program eligibility Before start of each semester, submit Time/Unit Limit Waiver to EOPS director for approval

Transferring to another EOPS Policy LMC EOPS supports student transfers to other EOPS programs, but it cannot guarantee admission. Procedure Request LMC EOPS to send EOPS Transfer Request to EOPS program of selected college EOPS sends record of student’s program history, transcript, and current status to selected college

OBTAINING a parking permit Policy Limited-service and appeal students are ineligible for this service. One (1) permit per EOPS student Citing begins Monday, 1/30/17 Request permit before leaving during today’s Information Session

Submit Academic Progress Report Counseling Timeline & Important Dates Meet Counselor– 1st Purpose: Ed Plan Dates: 1/23/17 to 3/17/17 Submit Academic Progress Report Dates To Submit: 2/21/17 to 3/10/17 Absolute Deadline: 3/10/17 by 1:00pm Meet Peer Mentor Dates: 3/6/17 to 5/21/17 Meet Counselor – 2nd Purpose: Academic Advising  4/10/17 to 5/26/17

Establishing Your MRC enter information and initial MRC as required Enroll 12 units Multiple campus enrollment, must have majority units at LMC DSPS students with less than 12 units must submit DSPS waiver to eligible for services before signing contract EOPS students with less than 12 units must submit EOPS waiver to eligible for services before signing contract

Establishing Your MRC enter information and initial MRC as required 2. Complete 12 units each semester, earning a term Grade Point Average (GPA) of, at least, 2.0 EOPS or DSPS waiver required for less than 12 units Waiver must be submitted before services can be received

How We Correct Institutional Inequity? EOPS Implementation Guidelines for Title V Regulations, Chancellor’s Office, California Community Colleges, Student Services Division Priority in outreach and recruitment services shall be directed towards correcting the greatest underrepresented among students serves. Additional priority among under represented students shall be given to serving individuals who are the first in their family to attend college. EOPS Implementation Guidelines for Title 5 Regulations, Article 6, Section 5280 (a)
