Welcome, reflection, prayer HOPE & ASPIRATION May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope ( Romans 15.13) For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope ( Jeremiah 29.11)
A prayer of hope God of hope, We look to you to inspire and empower us As we teach and learn how to face the future As we repent, forgive and reconcile. Grant us the strength we need to embody hope in our schools, filling our reservoirs with your living water May bad experiences and behaviour never have the last word And may you continually help us to see our future through your eyes Amen

Educating for hope and aspiration ‘Good schools open up horizons of hope and aspiration, and guide pupils into ways of fulfilling them.’ ‘They also cope wisely when things go wrong; bad experiences and bad behaviour’. ‘There are resources for healing, repair, renewal, forgiveness, reconciliation…’

Church School Implications of Becoming an Academy • Church school designation and Trust Deed remain unchanged Land ownership Maintenance and growth of Christian distinctiveness Approving Foundation representation at all levels – member/director/governor Diocese is held accountable by RSC Legal documents are signed and sealed by Diocese Written conditional consent required
MOU: Secretary of State & National Society • Key principles, working arrangements, protocols – will always speak to Diocese first • Recognises responsibility of Diocese to their church schools & wider contribution within educational system • Relies of both parties having consistency & transparency in decision making • Protocol for schools converting to academy status • Protocol for sponsored & underperforming academies including rebrokering, coasting
MOU: Bath & Wells Diocese & MAT • Religious designation • Governance • Collective worship & RE • Leadership • Chaplaincy • Relationship with local CofE community • Relationship with Diocesan Board of Education
Diocesan help up to conversion • Expertise – 40+ conversions to date • Training sessions so all FGB are informed • On going discussions with RSC and officers • Our solicitor is a national expert in church school conversions & regularly contributes to the debate on legal aspects of academisation • Brokering conversations with our church academies
Support post conversion • Specific training such as foundation member & director sessions • Approving all foundation representatives • The current support from the Diocese continues; training, CPD, HT conference/retreat, School Advisers, SIAMS • Annual meeting with academy trust
