Romans 3:10-12 (NASB) 10 as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; 11  There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; 12  All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”

Acts 7:2-4 (NASB) 2  And he said, “Hear me, brethren and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran, 3  and said to him, ‘Leave your country and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’ 4  Then he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. From there, after his father died, God had him move to this country in which you are now living.

Isaiah 14:13-14 (NASB) 13  “But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. 14  ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ ”

Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB) 1  Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you; 2  And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And (I will) make your name great; And (I will make) (so) you (shall be) a blessing; 3  And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Galatians 3:6-9 (NASB) 6  Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. 7  Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. 8  The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” 9  So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.

Called by God Genesis 12 The Gift of Faith This thing called faith. Faith is a natural thing. There was the natural sequence of need, promise, and faith on Adam’s part in Genesis 3:15 and now in Abram. Faith is also an unnatural thing. God’s promises seem so unreasonable sometimes because they are far beyond our reach or comprehension as humans. Faith is always connected to obedience. 14
