Phil 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Memory Verse Phil 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

The Upper Room Discourse John 13-16

John 13:18 3) God's Omniscience does not hinder or violate human volition.

Doctrine of Betrayal

5. Awareness of Betrayal Feelings of betrayal include being furious, resentful, heartbroken, numb, humiliated, rejected, hurt, shattered and not safe.

Unfortunately, broken trust is on the rise and a universal experience and feeling.

Man has an inherent need to belong, but has also rejected the greatest offer for relationship, union with Christ, and is vulnerable to pseudo relationships that inevitably lead to betrayal.

The emotional pain from betrayal can hurt as much as physical injury where the trauma is in the mental, emotional and spiritual realm.

Rom 2:9, “There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil.”

Luke 2:35, “And a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

John 12:27, “Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.”

Mark 14:34, “And He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.”

2 Peter 2:8-9, “(For by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 9then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation.”

When we think of betrayal as a wound to the soul, it follows that to heal the wound we must work on the same.

When the betrayed regains peace of mind, heart and soul, they then can make healthy doctrinal decisions about the damaged relationship(s), and forgiveness becomes a possibility, 2 Cor 2:9.

Psalm 51:12, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.”

Gal 6:1, “Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.”

Isa 51:18-19, “'I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and to his mourners, creating the praise of the lips. Peace, peace to him who is far and to him who is near', says the LORD, 'and I will heal him'.”

6. Satan is the Author of Betrayal

All betrayal comes from either the Old Sin Nature and / or demonic influence from Satan's Cosmic System.

Whether real or projected, the Sin Nature is involved with either the perpetrator or the self-induced victim.

Satan through his own free will volition, chose to rebel against our Lord and entered into a process of betrayal.

He rejected the authority of God and instead wanted to be like Him and incited an angelic rebellion against Him. Isa 14:12-14; Ezk 28:11-19; Rev 5:4; 12:3-4, 9

His plan was to attack God through his creatures, since he could not attack God directly.

Satan attacks at the weak point, the volition of mankind and the arrogance of his Sin Nature. Mat 4:1-11

Adam’s original sin was an act of betrayal and rebellion against God through Satan’s temptation.

As a result, all of mankind was in rebellion against God As a result, all of mankind was in rebellion against God. Gen 2:17, 3:1-7; Rom 5:12-21

Satan’s work is to keep man in betrayal or to turn the believer back to betrayal. 2 Thes 2:9-12

The believer is to resist the influence of betrayal from Satan by means of the Word and Holy Spirit. 2 Cor 2:11; Eph 4:27; 6:11-13; 1 John 1:9; Eph 5:18

Eph 6:13, “Pick up and put on the full armor from God that you may always be able to hold your ground in the evil day.”

James 4:7, “Hold your ground against the devil and he will flee from you.”

1 Peter 5:8-9, “Attain spiritual self-esteem, be alert, your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for some believer to devour; therefore, hold your ground against him standing firm in Bible doctrine.”

Betrayal is a deep cutting sin on the soul of the victim, therefore, we need God's armor to say no to any temptations of betrayal and not allow betrayal against us to penetrate our souls.

Eph 6:16, “In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows (acts of betrayal against you) of the evil one.”

Heb 10:39, “But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.”
