Presentation transcript:

Major Coursework project: 60% of GCSE grade Starting themes for major coursework project: Form Structure and assembly Transformation/distortion Identity, culture and expression This will be a long project which takes all of Year 10, pick something you want to research generally, not just based on a single idea. It counts towards 60% of your GCSE grade

Art mind maps are a starting point for project ideas and need to show lots of ideas and imaginative thought about the topic….let your mind run….. Images can be added as ‘triggers’ too on the same page or on the next pages to show visual inspiration from culture, reference or artists. Although a creative presentation of your mind map is good, a good range of ideas and expansion on the initial ideas is more important.

Making a project theme mind map From a project title in the middle, create lots of branches that each represent a single word or sentence that relates to the main theme What does the theme make you think of; issues, ideas, concepts, meanings, word definitions, events, objects, places etc…? Think of things to do with your topic that you find interesting, eye-catching, challenging, unusual, inspirational. What could you draw? Then, create sub-branches that stem from the main branches to further expand on ideas and concepts that you are interested in Expand with more ideas and details on the idea. Including images, sketches and using different colours can also be helpful in mindmapping and creating the sub-branch topics. What photographs could you take? What would be visually interesting?
