SYLLABUS ECE 2300 Electrical Circuits & Electronic Devices Laboratory Autumn 2017 Catalog Description: Accompanies and complements 2300 by demonstrating the physical principles discussed there; use of electrical instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators and digital multi-meters.

SYLLABUS ECE 2300 Electrical Circuits & Electronic Devices Laboratory Autumn 2017  Lab Monitors: TBD – Two/Three per lab sessions plus the TA Lab TA: Aditya Nechiyil nechiyil.1@osu.edu Caldwell Lab 237 Office hours: During Labs: M,Th 5:45-8:45pm; Th 11:15am-2:15pm Lab Supervisor: Gregg Chapman chapman.415@osu.edu Caldwell Lab 282

SYLLABUS ECE 2300 Electrical Circuits & Electronic Devices Laboratory Autumn 2017  Text: None. Each laboratory is accompanied by two video presentations on www.u.osu.edu/ece2300labs: 1) The Powerpoint lecture (called screencast) 2) Lab demonstration. Enter ECE 2300 in the search box. Both videos can be viewed on the desktop computers at each Lab bench. Grading: - Quizzes are 30% of Lab grade (20% of total grade for 2300) Quizzes cover the Screencast material and are taken online (Canvas). Quizzes may be taken twice up to and including your lab period for the week. - Lab Results - 70% of Lab grade

Session 2 – Lab 1: Resistor Networks SYLLABUS ECE 2300 Electrical Circuits & Electronic Devices Laboratory Autumn 2017  Laboratory Topics: Session 1 – Pre-Lab: Introduction to Instrumentation Session 2 – Lab 1: Resistor Networks Session 3– Lab 2: Passive Filters – Transient Response Session 4 – Lab 3: Passive Filters – Frequency Response Session 5 – Lab 4: Operational Amplifiers 1 Session 6 – Lab 5: Operational Amplifiers 2 Session 7 – Lab 6: Diodes Session 8 – Lab 7: Transistors NOTE 1: Labs may occur slightly ahead of the lecture material. All of the information required to perform each lab is presented in the screencast video for the lab.

Bill of Materials - ECE 2300 Laboratory Kits Purchase kits in Room 205 Dreese Lab at front desk. One kit per group of 2-3 is fine. Do not use old kits. Cost is $25.00 per kit. Kits may be purchased by checks with a printed address on the check (no starter checks) made out to OSU or cash (exact change) Bill of Materials - ECE 2300 Laboratory Kits   Quantity Item Part Description Mfg# Mfg 1 2 Capacitor 1000pF 50V, X7R, 10% SR155C102KAR AVX 3 0.01uF 50V, X7R, 5% SR215C103JAR 0.1uF SR215C104JAR 4 1.0uF 35V, 10% TAP105K035SCS 5 Diode 1N4148-G Small Signal Diode, 75V, 150mA Comchip Tech 6 5.1V Zener, 500mW 1N5231BTR Fairchild 7 1N4001-T Rectifier, 50V, 1A Diodes Inc. 8 LED LED - GRN 568nm, 2.2V WP3A8GD Kingbright 9 Inductor 1 mH Inductor, +/-5%, 500 mA, 1.4 Ohms TSL1112RA-102JR50-PF TDK 10 Transistor 2N7000TA N channel MOSFET, 60V, 200mA 11 2N5087G PNP Transistor, Low Noise ON Semi 12 2N5088G NPN Transistor, Low Noise 13 ZVP2106A P channel MOSFET, 60V, 280 mA Diodes/Zetex 14 Resistor 150 150, 1% MFR-25FBF-150R Yageo 15 316 Ohm 316, 1% MFR-25FBF-316R 16 1.00K 1.00K, 1% MFR-25FBF-1K00 17 1.62K 1.60K, 1% MFR-25FBF-1K62 18 2.00K 2.00K, 1% MFR-25FBF-2K00 19 3.32K 3.32K, 1% MFR-25FBF-3K32 20 4.99K 4.99K, 1% MFR-25FBF-4K99 21 7.50K 7.50K, 1% MFR-25FBF-7K50 22 10.0K 10.0K, 1% MFR-25FBF-10K0 23 16.2K 16.0K, 1% MFR-25FBF-16K2 24 20.0K 20.0K, 1% MFR-25FBF-20K0 25 100K 100K, 1% MFR-25FBF-100K 26 IC LME49710NA Op-Amp National Semi

Laboratory Schedules Laboratories Begin week of September 18 The Lab is located in Caldwell Laboratory, Room 237 ( in hallway farthest from Neil Avenue) Reminder to purchase Lab Kits by the week of September 25 NOTE 2: If you do not have a Lab Kit you will not be able to perform the lab.

NOTE 3: No food or beverages are ever allowed at the lab benches , including closed water bottles. Please visit the Sophomore Lounge area to take a break if you wish to eat or drink. Repeated warnings regarding liquids or food at the lab bench may result in dismissal from the current lab session.

NOTE 4: All lab absences must be made up in order to receive any credit for the lab that was missed. If you have an officially excused absence for a lab, you should first try to attend another lab section within that same week – be sure to contact the lab instructor. If you are not able to attend any other lab section that same week then another form of assignment will be assigned to you.
