Let’s Travel Around Missouri!

Traveling Guide Introduction Task Process Resources Evaluation Conclusion

Introduction Welcome to the Show-Me State! Did you know that many of the cities in this great state are rich with history? Lucky for you, now you get the chance to visit each of these places one city at a time! On your mark…get set…and go travel around Missouri to learn about what each of these cities has to offer!

Task Congratulations! You have been hired by the Missouri Department of Tourism to promote a city in Missouri. But, first…you must travel to each of these nine cities and keep a journal of all of your findings. Then, once you have made your way around the state, you will pick your favorite city and create a poster with all of the fun facts you learned!

Process You will travel with a partner to each of the nine cities listed below. As you travel, you will be keeping a journal, recording important facts from each city. After you have finished journaling about each city, you will record its location on the map of Missouri. (This will be helpful later on!) In the end, you will individually pick your FAVORITE Missouri city and create a poster with fun facts promoting this city to other tourists who are visiting Missouri. Happy and Safe Travels!

Resources On the next two pages, you will find links to the cities you are visiting: St. Joseph http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=2 Columbia http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=3 St. Louis http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=4 Kansas City http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=5 Hannibal http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=6

Resources St. Charles http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=7 Independence http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=8 St. Genevieve http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=9 Jefferson City http://poster.4teachers.org/worksheet/view.php?id=91521&page=10

Evaluation You will be evaluated throughout your journey as well as at the end. During your travels, you will be graded on effort and participation while working with your partner. At the end, you will be graded on your poster and completion of your journal.

Conclusion Now that your journey around Missouri is over, you should have a better understanding of the different characteristics of these nine important cities. You should also be able to promote at least one of these cities and explain WHY the city you have chosen is one of the best in Missouri!
