ONS Chemotherapy Courses In 2016, ONS launched a new Fundamentals of Administration course Designed for nurses who have been administering chemo/bio agents for < 1year or administer those agents infrequently (< 1 time /month) Completion of the course includes the ONS Provider Card and the ONS Chemo/Bio Guidelines E-book For 2017, ONS made significant changes to the ONS/ONCC Chemo/Bio Certificate Course based on customer feedback Now an on-demand course –participants can access the course immediately after registering for it Replaced the 3 mandatory discussions with new “real world” scenario learning activities Complete a short evaluation after completing the post-test Immediate access to the Provider Card, certificate of added qualification and CNE certificate upon successful completion of the course
The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) has launched the ONS Quality Improvement Registry, a qualified clinical data registry (QCDR) that practices can use to benchmark and improve patient outcomes. A QCDR enables the collection and submission of Physician Quality Reporting Systems (PQRS) quality measures data on behalf of eligible professionals, physicians, advanced practice nurses, and other clinicians who can independently bill Medicare.

ONS: Advocacy and Health Policy ONS Presence in Cancer Moonshot Participated in Vice President Joe Biden’s listening tour Dr. Deborah Mayer, PhD, RN, AOCN, FAAN, served on the Blue Ribbon Panel of Experts ONS volunteer leadership, members, and staff leadership participated in 2 Cancer Moonshot related summits/meetings While Cancer Moonshot is not continuing “as is” in the Trump Administration, some funding for the task force recommendations is in the 21st Century Cures Act and in NCI budget. Work will also continue within cancer initiatives conducted in the newly formed Biden Foundation. Finalizing the ONS Health Policy Agenda Focus on Quality Cancer Care, Access, Workforce Issues and Scope of Practice ONS monitors public health issues to support oncology nurses Tobacco, clinical trials, prevention and detection, nursing workforce, drug shortages (not all inclusive)

ONS: Customer Service Improvements ONS staff are committed to making your membership experience positive Based on member feedback, the following actions have been taken to enhance your experience in contacting ONS: Increased number of customer relations representatives and adjusted schedules. Revised phone menu to remove all options that led to a voicemail and directed all calls to the ONS Customer Relations department. This cut VM volumes by 75%. Instituted an email response tracking system to allow for seamless service by sending all email requests to help@ons.org rather than separate department or staff emails.
