ABOUT BICI-ALMERIA Run by Reading-based road cyclist Mark Lyford, bici-almeria has been welcoming riders to this spectacular, unspoilt corner of Spain since 2009. Our knowledge of the province of Almeria is extensive, first discovering the region on a holiday and returning in a February bike tour in 2007, I now spend as much of our time there as possible. For a road cyclist Almeria has it all - sunshine, great quiet roads, mountains, big and small, coast and desert. Previous trips have ridden extensively in the sierras that surround our base in Sorbas and I still get a real buzz from discovering small roads which are often not on maps. The excitement of sharing these rides and introducing the roads to others is still the driving force behind bici-almeria. The roads are amazing and very, very quiet. Almeria has been used by pro-tour teams Movistar, Lotto NL Jumbo and Lotto Soudal in recent years for winter training camps.
