Minimum Required Distribution How to’s, Strategies, and Planning ideas.

Rules for MRD’s Must be taken if over 70 ½. Big penalty if not taken…50% https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs- tege/uniform_rmd_wksht.pdf Special Rules for 401k’s if still working IRA’s and 401k’s calculated separately.

Qualified Charitable Distribution Give up to 100k of pre-tax IRA to charity. No tax deduction, but no taxes on distribution. https://www.kitces.com/blog/qu alified-charitable-distribution- qcd-from-ira-to-satisfy-rmd- rules-and-requirements/

Estate Planning Strategies Lower Income taxes for higher income earners. Lowers taxable estate. If you have taxable contribution in a traditional IRA, it reduces the pro rata rate, and makes a Roth conversion more palatable. COMPARISON TITLE #2 Content #2…good place for images, charts or bullet points.

4 areas to focus on to set yourself apart and get you noticed FOUNDATIONAL FOCUS 4 areas to focus on to set yourself apart and get you noticed (TAKE NOTES – There will be action items for you to do with your small groups)

#1 - You What about you?

Let’s get personal… Begin by asking questions: Ask yourself first, then someone you trust. - Strengths? Weaknesses? Areas to improve? Areas to develop? - Make a list then make a plan to eliminate, change or develop. Record your stories/experiences: Your memories first, then ask others. - Stories that shaped you - Experiences that changed you If your bio or “story” reads like the list of hardware and software included with your new computer… that’s a problem.

Let’s get personal… (part 2) What are you passionate about? - Hobbies - Volunteering - Activities - Causes - Areas of study Who are you??? Clients and prospect want to know that a human being is passionately in their corner. Show them who you are.

Let’s get down to business… It’s ok to be proud! - Education - Experience - Credentials - Accomplishments This is still about YOU. Find out how the business you and personal you came to be. There are stories behind all of it. Find the connections and tell the stories.

#2 – Your Business What about your business?

If you build it, they will come… What is your brand? - Your Team – How deep is your bench? - Your History - Your Activities - Your Awards - Your Accomplishments - Your Giving Think Office and BD. This is NOT about you, it’s about community.

#3 – Your Ideal Clients Don’t fish with a bear trap

Pick The Arena No, they don’t all fit in the same one… - BRI? - Pre-Retirees? - Young Families? - Residents? - Small Business Owners? - Nesting? Build the audience to fit the arena, not the other way around.

#4 – A CLEAR Value Prop It’s time to refine and define.

Well, What Is It? Prospects need to know enough to trust that you are the one they have been looking for. Once they are clients, the relationship takes over. - What are you offering? – BE REAL - What do they gain? – GET TO THE POINT - What is your goal for them AND you? – BE HONEST You need to be able to answer these 3 questions for each Arena you have. Write it down. Work with your group. Refine it and then Refine it again.

The Effects On Marketing How do these 4 areas effect your marketing strategy?

Know Your Audience! Target each group specifically with language geared toward them. Create or use content that resonates with them and keeps you top of mind.

Practice, Practice, Practice It doesn’t always come naturally, don’t assume it will.

Remember For Later… Think outside the box - Be creative because anyone can be boring - The WOW Factor - Impress, don’t confuse - Utilize your networks We will expand on these points in your small groups and cover some marketing strategies that will truly help you make an impression.
