The New Generation Product Briefing CAFÉ™: Comparative Analytics For Excellence Session 7 January 12, 2017 Patrick Nelli, Senior Vice President

The Bigger Picture We believe there is massive untapped value for our customers from building software services on top of a cross-health system, broad and granular dataset ® Today you have heard a lot about the Health Catalyst data operating system; and that one of the key pieces of the health catalyst data operating system is aggregating a broad set of detailed data from across a number of different sources. What I’d like to end on today is for us to think about the bigger picture. What possibilities exist when we start to look not just at a single health system’s data operating system, but when we look across numerous healthcare data operating systems, each having a broad and granular dataset. We did this in 2016 and we came to the conclusion that there is massive untapped value that can be delivered to our customers from building software services on top of a cross-health system, broad and granular dataset, and that is what I’d like to talk about today

CAFÉ (>75M Possible Patient Records) CAFÉ’s Potential Initial Focus Benchmarks Machine Learning Platform Clinical Decision Support (‘patients like this’) Research Registries Patient Portal (‘patients like me’) Third Party Application Ecosystem …What else? CAFÉ (>75M Possible Patient Records) External Data Sources In 2016, we decided to kick off our CAFÉ initiative. CAFÉ aggregates data from across Health Catalyst’s customer base, non-Health Catalyst data operating system customers, and external data sources into a central repository. Given the breadth of data in our customer’s EDWs, CAFÉ could become the largest single repository of detailed and broad healthcare data every created. There are numbers services that CAFÉ could supports, including …. PAUSE BETWEEN EACH SOFTWARE SERVICE – NOT THEY AREN’T POSSIBLE WITHOUT LARGE DATASET. We are building out CAFÉ so it can support any of these services. In 2016 we worked with four customer development partners (KU, Allina, Partners, MultiCare) to determine where we wanted to first leverage CAFÉ. Benchmarking was unanimous answer so we want to share with you what we’ve learned about this market Allina KUHA MultiCare Partners ...etc. Non-HC Customer Enterprise Data Warehouses

Benchmarking Market Overview Benchmarks play a central role in the healthcare analytics industry 88% of respondents report benchmarks as very or extremely important to outcomes improvement prioritization process* Benchmarks 2nd most important factor in driving outcomes improvement prioritization (after regulatory)* (UHC) *Results from survey conducted by Health Catalyst in Nov 2016 with responses from >125 healthcare executives

CAFÉ Benchmarking User Interface CAFÉ Benchmarking Focus Prioritization - I would like to improve outcomes, but don’t know where to start. Exploration (root cause analysis) - How do I initially determine why I am performing poorly in a given area? Prioritization Exploration / Root Cause Analysis / Hypothesis Testing Deep Dive into Process Metrics Process Changes and Algorithm Implementations Performance Monitoring Intelligently direct users through these processes While CAFÉ benchmarks can be utilized in a customers EDW or in other applications for any purpose, the CAFÉ user interface is specifically answering two problems: prioritization and exploration

CAFÉ Benchmarking Timeline Thank you to our customer development partners: Allina, KUHA, MultiCare, and Partners Add 4-8 additional customers on CAFÉ in 2017 Approach Additional Catalyst Customers to Join CAFÉ Add Additional Benchmark Categories CAFÉ Benchmarking Full Product Release Add All-Payer Full Continuum of Care Benchmarks Jan ‘17 Sep ‘17 Jan ‘18 Jun ‘18 Dec ‘17 May ‘17 Mar ‘18 Available as part of our all access subscription contract. Available to SOW customers, but requires a separate SOW and will cost money in that case. Trying to keep the cost as low as we can and just cover our costs CAFÉ Benchmarking MVP Product Release Limited Access CAFÉ Available to All Catalyst Customers Open CAFÉ to Non-Catalyst Customers

Future Product Roadmap Opportunities Benchmarks Machine Learning Platform Clinical Decision Support (‘patients like this’) Research Registries Patient Portal (‘patients like me’) Third Party Application Ecosystem …What else? CAFÉ (>75M Possible Patient Records) External Data Sources Benchmarking advancements – additional customers, additional benchmark categories (full continuum of care and detailed process measures), user interface enhancements First two services we will likely go after are ML platform and Clinical Decision Support (‘patients like this’). We had to build in functionality similar to this for benchmarking, so not a stretch. Will ultimately be up to customer development partners – CAFÉ should be a customer driven initiative Allina Allina KUHA KUHA MultiCare MultiCare Partners Partners ...etc. ...etc. Non-HC Customer Enterprise Data Warehouses

CAFÉ (>75M Possible Patient Records) CAFÉ Benchmarking - “Point of Decision Making” CAFÉ Benchmarking User Interface Benchmarks 3 APIs for Other Analytical Products 2 Benchmark Feedback Loop to Data Warehouses 1 CAFÉ (>75M Possible Patient Records) External Data Sources Allina KUHA MultiCare Partners ...etc. Customer Enterprise Data Warehouses

CAFÉ Benchmarking Categories Timeline Data Categories Inpatient and outpatient metrics (e.g. LOS, Mortality, Readmissions) Avoidable Events / Complications Medicare bundle payment metrics Medicare ACO population metrics Utilization (e.g. high cost imaging) CMS Hospital Compare quality / regulatory metrics All payor full continuum of care metrics (i.e. ACO / population health metrics) Detailed process metrics (e.g. Sepsis three hour bundle metrics, medication reconciliation, etc.)
