EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Infrastructure is the key enabler for economic, social and political development Roads, Transport & Public works therefore is crucial in the promotion of socio-economic activities & development

Sector vision and Mission To realize adequate and accessible quality infrastructure, government housing & building and other public works for the county Mission To facilitate provision, construction and maintenance of quality infrastructure, government building & housing and other public works for sustainable socio-economic development.

Strategic goals/objectives of the sector To facilitate adequate provision of cost effective infrastructure, government building & housing, and other public works To develop and maintain infrastructural building and housing facilities for government operations. To develop and maintain technical and quality audit for infrastructure, buildings, housing, and other public works in public sector

Sub-sectors and their mandate Roads Construct, maintain and manage county road network as stipulated in the fourth schedule of the constitution of Kenya 2010. Transport Provide quality mechanical transport and plants services, enhance development and maintenance of roads and other related infrastructural with a view to support realization of the County Integrated Development Plans Public works Public works core mandate is service provision to other departments in design, documentation and project implementation. This calls for adequate facilitation for the professional services

ROADS SUB-SECTOR INTRODUCTION The county has a road network measuring approximately 9000 kilometers of which only 300kilometers is under bitumen though in a dilapidated state; while the rest is under gravel and earth surface
