Life during WWI Imagine WWI is happening now! What do you think a solider had to go through during WWI? Why was this war different or unique?

WWI: The Great War This was a historical war for many reasons. One thing this war did to technological advances (industrialism) that no one expected was change the view on war. Men enlisted and had no idea of the horrors they were about to experience

List new technological advances from the short video! Technology Watch: World War One: Weapons and Technology List new technological advances from the short video!

List details about trench warfare from the short video. Watch: Trench Warfare Watch: Trench Warfare (funny) List details about trench warfare from the short video.

Shell Shock (today PTSD) Watch: Shell Shock #1 Watch: Shell Shock #2 List details about shellshock from the short video.

Why did men enlist? “Those who fought in WWI believed they were fighting for noble reasons: for defense against aggression, for the love of one’s country and for glory. Coming into the war they were fueled by the ideals of nationalism, liberalism, democracy and religious freedom.”

WWI Narrative Imagine the year is 1916; 2 years into WWI. You enlisted in the war with your classmates, who are now dead or unable to fight. As you think about the last two years in your trench what are your feelings about the war and why are you fighting still?

An often unseen view of veterans… As Armistice Day approaches an exhibition reveals a hidden side to the horror of World War I. It contains previously unseen images of British servicemen who suffered terrible facial injuries in the conflict. The exhibition also tells the story of one surgeon - Harold Gillis – who through his efforts to help them became known as the father of modern plastic surgery.
