What is a pronoun? A pronoun takes the place of a noun (I, you, he, she, we, they) It is the subject of a sentence

Les pronoms en français: Je = I Tu = you (informal) Il = he Elle = she Nous = we Vous = you (formal or plural) Ils = they (males or males and females) Elles = they (females only) Singular (one person) Plural (2 or more)

How do you know when to use tu or vous? Tu: informal, used when you address someone by their first name, someone younger, family member. ONE person; talking TO them. Vous: formal or plural, used when you address someone with a title, formal situation, more than one person (y’all)

When do you use il or elle? Il replaces a male name or a masculine noun (means it). Ex: Jacques, Louis, le lycée, le français Elle replaces a female name or a feminine noun (means it). Ex: Alice, Céline, la classe, la glace Ils replaces 2 names (masculine or masc and feminine) or a plural masculine noun Ex: Pierre et Paul, Paul et Anne, les magasins Elles replaces 2 names (Feminine only) or a plural feminine noun Ex: Anne et Sylvie, les frites, les filles
