English expectations Reading Writing Read fluently common exception, two or more syllables words Read without overt sounding out and blending, up to 90 words per minute Answer questions and make some inferences Able to identify the meaning of words and phrases Vocabulary- using adjectives, powerful verbs, adverbs, and writing different types of sentences. Spelling words- common exception words accurately, some contracted forms(don’t, I’ll, won’t), adding suffixes- (_ly, _ed, _ing, _ful) and making the correct choice in the spelling of graphemes. Maths expectations Partition two digit numbers into different combinations Use partitioning to add and subtract calculations Subtract a two digit number from a two digit number Recognise the inverse of operations Recall multiplication and division facts for 2,5 and 10 times tables. Identify a fraction of an amount and shape- 1/3, 1/4, 1/2, 2/4, ¾ Use coins to make different amounts- e.g. how many £2 coins are needed to exchange for a £20 note? Read scales of ones, twos, fives and tens in a practical situation Read the time to the nearest 15 minutes Properties of 2D and 3D shapes- sides, vertices, line of symmetry, edges
