General Information and introduction
Routines Doors open each morning at 8:30am Lessons commence at 8:45am If you are late or departing early please get a slip from the office School concludes at 2:55pm Arrange a drop off and pick up point (Promotes self-responsibility and independence)
Morning Routine Unpack lunch box and water bottle. Place tuckshop in the box and banking in the bag. Complete the task on the whiteboard. Read a book from the shelf. Catch up on any work that is not finished.
Brain Break 9:30 snack Please provide healthy food options Suggested foods- fresh fruit, dried fruit, vegetables, cheese, yoghurt.

Reading strategies Eagle Eye Lips the fish Look at the picture clues. Lips the fish Get your lips ready for the first sound. Chunky Monkey Look for a part or a chunk that you know. Helpful Kangaroo Ask for help if you have tried the other strategies! Stretchy Snake S-t-r-e-t-c-h the word out slowly. Put the sounds together. Skippy the frog Skip the word. Read to the end of the sentence. Trying Lion Try to read the sentence again.
Reading CAFÉ Strategies
Sight Words Sight words make up on average 70% of the words used in reading and writing. Daily practise. Focus on completing each colour at a time. Create sight word games – flash cards, memory, fly swat, cross the crocodile river, etc. Learn to spell sight words too.
